Is my transmission gone?

CEL code PO770 (shift solenoid E malfunction)

So guys is my transmission gone or is it even my transmission? any words of wisdom will help

long story short, I think I overfilled my transmission fluid by a lot and drove it with it overfilled for 2-3 months.

been noticing slipping for the past month, it slowly got worst..but was definitely still drive-able.

Yesterday I put the car in Reverse and backed out...but the car had a really hard time going in reverse. When I put it to Drive, I noticed it wouldn't budge, but I had to pump the gas a bit for it to get going.

Ever since then, its been pretty rough...stop lights take a lot of gas to get going (pumping the pedal, or else it just makes loud noises at high RPMs). Rolling on highway at 70 i dont notice much, but stop and go traffic hurts.

I cannot reverse the car, I will put in reverse and it will either stand still or it will drive FORWARD. Neutral gear does the same thing.

PO770 code came on a while ago. (shift solenoid E malfunction)

is this a part I can replace???

Thanks guys

yes, you can replace the solenoid.

it is accessible through the trans pan.

Looks like they go for about 165 on rock auto.

According to my 1999 FSM, that code could also mean a bad valve body, or bad torque converter. Hopefully it just the solenoid. There is a test for the solenoid to see if its bad, once its removed.

I don't think it's your torque converter. Is suggest solenoid or wiring loom.
