Lots of good info starting to compile. I can't wait till I actually get some more time to do the SMT-6 install and full writeup. It should be very helpful for those about to embark the SMT-6 saga.

I have to say I love this stuff, and I could only wish I could do this for a living. It would be a dream career! Keep the comments coming.

well guys i just want ot show you some stats that i colelcted form runnings
....in the pic you will see my gtech pro doing its work.....

the MAIN reading grey is stock (˟˟˟˟ting running stock)
THe last 2 on right is just tonight with supra maf and the red is without supra maf....you can see the gains the supra maf itself did....my truck is currently still need of tweaking as it garggles a bit at full throttle (hence the blue lower speed) but i did some more runs and it averaged out to a 16.1 quarter mile wiht 16.01 being my fastest.....i lost a whole second just to the supra maf....god thats crazy...and my truck still needs some more tuning as i got a minor air leak in one of my boost tubes that will need some working on =]

wow does the truck ever pull form 3.7krpm to redline gawd its like a turbo just kicked in anyway will fill yea in on my progress as well.

Wow... VERY nice times (and I'm liking the GTech as well!).

So, what's the difference between the grey and red? Is the red JUST the S/C or is that with the S/C and the injectors/fuel pump?

Do you mean totally stock or just the S/C? Any other mods?

That would be first priority on my list if I had a bunch of leaks or at least one leak. I would also check the rest of your tubing for dry rotting, and replace them too.

Not really knowing what's going on in your upper RPM's and what you fuel zero is set at, I'm going to attach a map that may or may not fix your WOT throttle settings. Without seeing what your AFR and BR-3 is saying at WOT, I can't tell if garggle means lean or rich, so I'm going to assume your running a tad lean. So here's the map! Try it out if you want, and let us know what you find! I'm going to assume you run the A/C usually for the idle row changes, okay!

Also, notice the difference in RPM's on your analog map and mine. It needs to be like mine if you want your last two rows up top to do anything at all. Let me know how it runs in comparison, and we'll go from there. Make these changes while the truck is idling, and make sure while in the first row, only change one number at a time, and no great than a 1 number step in either direction, so you don't stall the truck out.

Their site much be down right now, plus it's really slow most of the time anyway, at least when I've been on it. Keep trying, as I'm sure it will come back up soon.

Well Chris my truck seems to run much better with the supra maf then with the stock one....i pushed the truck it its limits yesterday after abti a smooth dirving to get ecu to learn new settings....im ognna try those settings...but there is something much different between the first gen tacos and the 4runners all together....my truck reacts better with the less gas....i mean at lower rpm i have to start increasing numbers to keep it from throbbing (hesitating) as right when it goes into a higher band it starts to pull big time youc an feel the power hit a certin point and then boo yea im gone =]

The grey means stock.....with only fipk....the truck wasn;t running right but im jsut compairing my stock vs my truck now so most likly that your guys's trucks are a bit faster stock then mine was at time. (some sensors ahd to be replaced spark plugs were crappy)

My fuel zero is at 0
But again my truck runs better and faster in higher rpm in all gears....so im thinking its the lower rpm i gotta work on.

ANyway ill try your settings tonight as well!
Off to school...

Ok, so I need to see the BR-3 results. Do you have any logs at WOT and at idle and initial WOT tip in?

Question Apex'i S-AFC Installation

Hello All,

Just wondering if anyone has had experience installing the Apex S-AFC on their 4runner. Following the advise of certain website's (namely Gadget's), I've recently purchased supra injectors, a walbro fuel pump, apex s-afc, and air/fuel meter for my truck. Unfortunately, I don't have very much technical experience with the 4runner's ecm and tuning the afc (that's if I manage to install it correctly). Any tips (wiring diagrams, etc...) or advice will help tremendously. Please e-mail me at magnomichael@aol.com if possible.

Thank you,

Mike

I have wiring for 1998 and 1997 4runners, not specific to the AFC, but specific to the 4runner year's wiring. I imagine the wiring instructions come with the AFC, right?

I can, but give me just a bit! I'll send it over email after I scan them in. What's your email?

Well if anyone's interested I just scanned the 1997 wiring diagrams into the computer, so I can easily email them to you if you need them. Let me know if anyone needs them. I've also got the 1998's, but their not scanned yet.

Just a quick update to keep everyone posted. Tomorrow, assuming everything goes as planned, I'm going to finish the SMT-6 install with lots of pictures and comments as usual.

have you thought about running a fuel pressure regulator? when i was in north carolina i bought a 14 psi pulley for my S/C'd SRunner, but i didnt get a chance to install fuel mods b4 i totalled it out. they guy i bought it from has a 2001 Taco 4x4 and he took me for a ride with the 14psi pulley and WHOA, he was running the following on his setup with no ping at all: Walbro 190lph,305cc supra injectors, supra maf, vortec fuel psi reg(set @ 12 psi), 2 stage colder ngk plugs(iridiums i think), ngk plug wires, and a K/N FIPK, i think thats all he had. i still have the 14psi pulley if you would be interested in it. it pulls 14 on a cold morning and constant 12-13 leaning more toward 13psi.

i since bought a 94 pickup and have no use for the pulley.

That's the highest I've heard of anyone running on the TRD, and is more than I would want to go. Do you know how I can get in touch with that guy to find out for sure what his setup is? I'd love to see his dyno numbers, EGT, and CHT's, wouldn't you?

Does he live at some extreme altitude? That just seems to be really overworking the TRD S/C according to what gadget says. I'd relaly love to see his dyno, CHT's and EGT's while on the dyno. Man, if he's actually pulling it off, I can't see how he's not burning up his engine, because the compressed air would be extremely hot! Even his engine temps would out of this world. Wow! Please let me know what you find out!

the guys at ELprototypes told me their 11psi pulley routinely gets 13+psi, so i am guessing that's where that pulley originated.

at altitude the pressure would register lower on a boost gauge.
