It goes like this: "You care more about your truck and spend more time on your truck than on me! You're obsessed!" Sound familiar?

Chris

This is how I've lost every single girlfriend I've ever had.

1) SMT-6 install $300
2) Supercharger $1725
3) RC engineering injectors $650
4) Spark Plugs $50
5) Spark plug wires $40
6) Walbro Fuel pump $100+
7) Supra MAF $50

I think you forgot to add tranny cooler to the list. But this write up is exactly what I needed. I don't know if you've read the other thread about a supercharger group buy, if that goes through then I should be fine. But if it doesn't then I was wondering is there a cheaper alternative to the RC engineering injectors? I don't want to sacriifice too much quality, maybe just a temporary fix, till I can budget those in as well. Also if you could tell me where to purchase each of those compenents, I can start getting the stuff together. and lastly, any chance ofyou having the wiring diagram for a 2002? If not, do you know where I can get a hold of one?

thanks alot!

Shahzad are you gonna do the install yourself? If so I would love to help you out man, even not, I'd love to just watch and learn. Lemme know.

BOo!!! Yea I'm planning on giving Tom a call about the install of my suspension lift. either I do it myself in the parking lot of my apartment, or I pay him to do it. What he charged Mike was pretty expensive, so I'm gonna see if he can go down, if not, either I'll attempt it myself (which i have to buy ALL the tools) or I'll wait and think of something else......He's pretty pricey.

1) SMT-6 $300
- Buy this from Louis Ott of Ott Performance: Send an email to louisott@cs.com and tell him Chris Rademacher sent you!

2) Supercharger $1725
- Bought from Sterling McCall Toyota: I can't remember the guys name that handled it, but he's the one that handles the internet orders. They have a site: http://www.smccalltoyota.com/ I haven't been keeping track of the group buy thread.

3) RC engineering injectors $650 The only viable alternative if you want to get the injectors is to find a used set of Supra Injectors from someone on the boards or www.supraforums.com This is fine if all you plan to run is the S/C, fuel pump, and regular size pulley. If you plan to go for more power using water injection and smaller pulley I only recommend the 370cc injectors.

4) Spark Plugs $50 I got mine from www.sparkplugs.com I don't have them sitting in front of me to remember which ones I bought, but if you're interested I'll find out.

5) Spark plug wires $40 www.sparkplugs.com

6) Walbro Fuel pump $100+ The only place I know of to get these is http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/ this time around I bought the high pressure 190 lph instead of the regular pressure, because I'm going to be tuning in closed loop and will be eventually running water injection and smaller pulley for more power.

7) Supra MAF $50 I bought mine used off a guy at www.supraforums.com. I don't recommend buying a new one, because they are extremely expensive.

8) Tranny Cooler - Hayden stacked plate is the only way to go, and I'll be changing my Perma Cool one soon.
and lastly, any chance ofyou having the wiring diagram for a 2002? If not, do you know where I can get a hold of one?
Place a post, and I'm sure someone on here has the electrical diagrams. I got my 1997 diagrams from Gadget.

Hope that helps,

Chris

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but if you are getting SAWS up front and new coils in the rear you don't even need a compressor, so a suspension lift should be a simple jack up the rig swap. Am I right?

I'm hoping it'll be that easy. The only part that worries me is the lugs on the wheels, and making sure all bolts are tight and secure.

That's the least of your worries! Just make sure your jacks are well supported!

Support them with JACK STANDS! You should never trust a jack to support the rig by itself.

I just got done going through Gadgets web site. In there he talks about doing a valve body upgrade, as well as a torque converter upgrade. I checked on level 10 and protorque's websites, this is going to add about $1100 to the cost if install. I got te impression that if I was planning on putting in a supercharger then these were important upgrades to have in order to prevent the tranny from blowing out. Are you planning on doing these as well?

Talk to John at IPT Performance Transmissions: sales@importperformancetrans.com

Just make sure you mention Chris Rademacher sent you, because you will get a better rate, and they are much cheaper than Level 10, and in the Supra market, a lot better quality. We had a group buy going for only $399, plus he had a core he could exchange so you wouldn't have any down time. Email him and see what he says.

Chris

P.S. They did mine at their shop, and I'm very happy with it! It's a must have if you install a S/C, in my opinion.

chris -

the 305's should be good up to 300HP+. http://www.rceng.com/technical.htm

i ran rich with my 305's and the 9.5 psi pulley.

with water injection, you can run leaner with the increased octane. and if you run water/ethanol, you are supplementing your fuel, and can cut back on fuel delivery even more, so you don't really need anything bigger than 305's.

also, a lot of people have found other sources for the injectors, including refurbished ones for $40 each. i have bought two sets for $90 and $150 and then had them cleaned at RC for $100.

Ok just got done talkin to a tech here. He said I'm able to use the tech area to install my lift. But I only have like 3 hours to do it, which I don't think will be enough time. But if somehow I get more time, where are the perfect spots to put jack stands? Cuz there is a bunch here. And where exactly should I jack it from? Thanks.

To borrow Bob's pic:

3 hours should be plenty of time especially if you're swapping in SAWs up front. If you hae a buddy helping out, even better. Just hose everything down with PB blaster the night before, especially the rear upper shock mounts.

Keep the floor jack handy even after you have things up on stands - you'll want it to raise the rxle when doing the rear springs.

ok, I sat down and am crunching some numbers here:

1. supercharger: 1700 (if I'm lucky)
2. SMT-6: 300
3. Plugs: 50
4. Plug wires: 40
5. Fuel pump: 130
6. Supra MAF: 50 (again, if I'm lucky)
7. Tranny cooler: 150 (rough estimate, don't know exact figure)
8. Valve body: 399
9. Fuel Injectors: 650
10. TMC1.1: 199
11. Torque conv: 550 (estimate)
---------------------------------------------
Grand total: $4218.00

This doesn't include shipping, and labor cost you can probably toss in another $600+ for that. Bringing you in right at under $5000 if everything goes smoothly. Which blows my budget my two grand. So lets try this from a different approach, what would I have to get to make the s/c work, and at the same time not destroy my transmission.

1. supercharger: 1700 (if I'm lucky)
2. Plugs: 50
3. Plug wires: 40
4. Tranny cooler: 150 (rough estimate, don't know exact figure)
5. Valve body: 399
6. TMC1.1: 199
--------------------------------
Grand total: $2538

again this is before labor and shipping cost. So probably a little over three grand to make it work. Am I missing something?

oooohhh tough decision time. time to go work out, and think this over.

You can get a Hayden tranny cooler, they make the TRD one, for about $65. That saves you $85.

uhh you can tkae plugs and plug wires out.....dont see a need for them before fuel mods...i have my stock ones
Valve body is recommended but not forsure...again i dont have one as i dont have funds (spent excaly what you budgeted around 6k).....tranny cooler would be great idea i dont have mine and am afriead ot put my tranny temp gauge back in to see the temps ......also if you are planning on geting fuel injectors then dont bother with tmc as that contorls timing only and you need to control larger injectors and timing (for pinging) so i recommend either smt6 (buggy as of yet depending on year) or the ftc-e (something like that) form split second as it combines the control of timing retard and fuel control with the ability to trick truck into staying into open loop during boost (ESC1)....

i using the 370 injectors with the smt6 and am just about to go outside and rewire the thing and add supra maf =]

and jsut keep an eye out for those cheap supra mafs...i got mine for 50 as well from ttora...

anyway im also here with the install side but chris has helped me from day one about install, along with gadget, creed and dr z.

now its my turn to help out a bit =]

Oh and refering back to the wife/girlfriend talk....
My GF always told me to put my prioritys infront of her when it needs to be...so well i did and she got pissed off about it...i told her .....now she just pouts =] oh well i love my truck before i even bought it from my moms company.

Get Injectors From

If you want Supra injectors, the best place to go is www.supraforums.com . I luckily found a local guy who is selling them to me for $140, and his 1997 supra only had 47,000 miles on it. He said that was the going rate he found on supraforums. So register there, and look around -- you'll find a set for probably under $150. If you're going to spend money on a piggyback computer, get the SMT-5. It does all you need. Can control fuel mapping, retard/advance timing, control extra injectors (water injection or nitrous), etc... I guess if you don't have a laptop though it would be best to have a combination of the other ones. If you have a 99-00 CALI. emissions 4Runner, or a 2001+ 4Runner, you will need to have a narrow-band O2 sensor to utilize the fuel computer, for pretty much any one you get, even the S-AFC. Just get a universal one from NAPA (mine was $73, got it today, maybe have been overpriced though), and then have a nut welded into your exhaust pipe to screw the O2 sensor into. Connect the power and ground, and then the signal wire to your piggyback, and you're good to go. If you have a '96-'98 4Runner or a '99-'00 FEDERAL emissions 4Runner, then you can just tap into the O2 sensor that is already there.

Zach
