My Runner is broken!

It just goes click click click now...

Dont worry, i tried searching but i couldnt find anything under click click click...

So i try and start the car, i can turn the power on, listen to the radio etc, but as soon i try and start it, (turn the key some more) it goes click click click and I lose all power.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I had the exact problem with my 98 4runner. It is a starter problem. It may be a quick fix by replacing the solenoids (contacts) inside the starter or you could replace the whole starter which is more expensive.

Test the battery. If you lose all power after trying to crank it, i bet the problem is a weak battery. If not, it's likely your starter contacts.

or a bad connection at one or both of the battery terminals, take them off and clean them, i bet that will fix your problem

Sounds like you need a new key.

Tap the starter with a hammer and see if it'll crank.

Replace the starter contact's. Ive been there and believe me its the starter. My battery was new, when i tried to start the clock would dim because the starter is taking more current to crank and start.

Its Hammer time. Oh ohhhh oh ohhh oh..

(Errr sorry that was suppose to be my inner voice...... Come On Don't tell me Im the only one that listened to MC Hammer) <WIGGER YES>

I agree with the stuck starter. My truck does that all the time when I let it sit for to long. (More than two days and all I get it "click click click") whack it with the hammer and she starts right back up.

Stuck starter...it happened to my gf's corolla. I thought it was a dead battery, but after I turned the crankshaft a little, it started right up.

nolongeraneqaddict:: before removing the starter, I would test it right there, just be sure to put in park or neutral, connects a 12V positive terminal to the starter solenoid and see if it cranks up.

Good luck,

Nam
