Is my Power Steering Pump Gone?
#1
Here is what I did, stupid me!!
After hearing whining noises from the power steering at 1000 to 1200 RPM, I've topped the ATF level with Power Steering Fluid. That wasn't very smart and to no surprise the noise remained the same. So when I came back from my trip, I flushed out the mixture and refilled it with ATF. The noise was still there. Now couple weeks later the noise is even greater especially when turning.
My question is! What’s busted? Is it my steering pump or rack? Or do I still have a contaminated ATF fluid.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate!!!
Thanks

sounds like you may have a bad pump, or air trapped in it, but if you've been driving it for a while the air should have bled out, how low was it when you topped it off? if it was very low you have probably scored the surface where the vanes ride

I topped it of two weeks ago.
As far as I know there should be no noise from the steering pump when the wheels are straight and no turns are being made. I'll have the pump pressure tested, and I'll go from there.
I don't think it was that low. I just added a bit and it actually overfilled.
