My Latest Mod
A new exhaust tip! Well it's not a big deal, but it's my latest mod. I just felt like posting a picture of it.
What do you guys think? Now I just have to order and install the Dynomax muffler.

Yeah - in an attempt to cut down on blatant post padding.
It looks wierd with a nice shiny tip and an old pipe going in to it. Get some dirt on it or something! Oh I forgot, your Runner never leaves the parking lot. Nevermind.

Vato,
Hey, I like it! For me, I painted the rear section of my tail pipe w/ rustoleum flat black spray paint. it looks much better because the tail pipe visually gets "lost" b/c everything else underneath is flat black. More importantly, it hides the rust colored pipe. And for your new tip, I think makes your new setup look a little off. Sort of like putting a shiny new chrome hood ornament on a rusty Cadillac!

I might have to do it this weekend.
I'm going to have to use a brush, I do not want ot get paint on the bumper or rear mud flap. Thanks Bob!

Looks good man, when I got my Dynomax put on last weekend I too had a new tip put on...but to avoid the look of the rust on chrome I opted for a longer tip so that it didn't look as bad. I was going to get new piping all the way back but the old pipe was in the really good shape so I just used the old stuff.

First you cut off the amount of old pipe needed to fit the tip on with a plasma cutter or a poor mans plasma cutter (hacksaw and muscle) and then weld on the tip.
Short answer = Welded on

I had one of these on my 1991 Runner and I thought it looked great. My old Pops actually had put it on before he gave it to me.
I think I will keep my 2001 tip stock untill I get a whole new exhaust system..way down the road.
Most people yell out bling..but I think it is a simple way to make a crappy looking pipe look sort of nice.

With the screw-on tips you can use them to adjust the tone and performance of your rig. (yes, seriously, this isn't a 15hp joke). A 4-cycle engine can benefit from a "tuned pipe", not as much as a 2-cycle can, but there _is_ a method to the math.

No rust yet on the pipe but then again I live in Houston and outside of wet and humidity we don't have snow or ice or salt so the pipes and bod are in fairly nice shape.
Or you could just get a freaking way too expensive Borla Stainless Steel one like I did and it will always look purty with no work.
