Post My best gas mileage ever!!!

Alright, I took a trip down to Galveston yesterday. I filled up with premium and put some B12 fuel system cleaner in the tank. The total trip (including a 10% increase because my speedo is off) was 305 miles. I made the trip on one tank of gas. All of the driving was on highway, windows down a/c off, except for about 70 miles of city driving. Houston traffic is crappy.

So my mileage came out to be 20.3 mpg. Pretty awesome from the 3.slow. And it would have been even better had all the driving been highway.

I was somewhat impressed. That is the best gas mileage I have ever gotten out of this thing.

Well, everyone have a good and safe Memorial Day!

Oop, looks like its time to go get some injector cleaner!! Congrats on the consumption. I wish mine was that high. It used to be, but on the highway, the rack really puts a dent in my mpg. Espcially at 80-90.

I've gotten 22 coming downhill from Albuquerque and 20-21 is pretty normal on the highway. It seems like I always get about 1mpg more when I use premium. Is that your experience as well?

I'm not sure if I get better mileage with premium. I'll have to give that a shot.

I've been getting 21.6 with the supercharger. Do you think your mileage would have been better with the windows up and the A/C on? Supposedly the wind resistance with the windows down cuts milage.

just my 2 pennies

Ahh yes, the good ol' days of getting 20 MPG if not more. The best take I ever got was 400 on 16.5 gal Now it's a fill up every 200- 150 miles

With my 97 3.4, I get 20+ on the highway regularly. My best is 24mpg (with 87 octane). I haven't made any mods other than an Amsoil filter.

Exclamation

28 MPG with a diesel! And toyota says there is no market in NA for a diesel truck!
What do we have to do...Hey what about a group buy! If a few thousand of us went to head office all together at the same time...nah that would never work...We'll just have to buy overseas and import them ourselves one at a time... Aviator

So is there mod potential on these Surf's? I know you can make Diesels torquey as heck, but I am wondering if this would be possible on the 3.0 Turbo's?

Calculated my mileage this weekend for the first time with the new lift and wheels & tires. If u figure my odometer being off about 6 percent at 65 mph, adding that to what the gauge reads, I gained about 3mpg over the old bald 265's. I was excited..yes this was 80 percent freeway miles but still I figured with the bigger tires and loss of top end my mileage would always be lower. I dont figure 21.5 mpg or so is too awful bad...oh my only performance mod is elbow removal.

I'm wondering the same thing myself.... I think the chip that is used in the 3.0 TD Landcruiser will work with mine. It's the same engine (1KZ-TE)
