More Ring Gear Stuff w/ pics

Okay for those of you that have been following... I hate really long threads so I started a new one. Here are the pics you guys wanted..... 7 broken teeth.

4.88 ratio. So what size is the size of the nut that holds the pinion on? It's freaking huge!

Just curious, was it a stock Toy ring gear or aftermarket? If aftermarket, what brand?

Stock gear. It says Toy 488T on the side. Flecker I haven't put it together yet. I'm going to run down to Randy's Ring and Pinion after work tomorrow to get the gears. I'll put it back together this weekend. I'm also getting a few more quotes on the rebuild. I'm wondering if the extra $300 is worth it for the warranty. I might just suck it up and put it on my already large credit card bill.

Your plastic may have a warranty attached to it. So use the plastic and the rebuild may be covered.

Well, I sucked it up. Randy's is rebuilding it and it should be ready on Tuesday. Estimate of $500. I'm hoping a little less since I did the prep work for them. The one thing I'm not looking forward to though..... is having to break in the gear. I can't go wheeling until after 500 miles...... That's $45 bucks in gas.... Hmm..... I'll just have to drive a little more than I usually do to get it broken in.

That looks like one of mine. I had faillures with OEM diffs and also with aftermarket kits. I used up something like 11 or 12 in abiut 9 yeras off wheelin. My buddy's also have had some faillures.
The 8" R&P does a good jog when stock. But they will eventually fail with bigger tyres and more hp.
Hope you have more luck than me.

I'm glad you're having it done right. It should last a lot longer, and you have peace of mind while wheeling.
