I just did my 1.5" bl and put on the 285's about 3 weeks ago. The guys at discount didn't want to install them because at full droop they rub just barley on the a-arm. I told them to just leave them on because I know ive heard of the same problem on this board. Since then I have had no rubbing issues at all, except at full turn they rub on the frame a lil bit...no biggie. My concern is when its at full droop, I jacked it up yesterday and inspected it a lil better. At full droop it will just barley rub the mud terrain knobs that are on the side of the tire, but not the tire or sidewall it self. I'm about to do some camping and plan to run a few moderate trail here soon, and I am wondering if this is something I should address before I go. I really cant see it being a problem, I figure when its at full droop its not for too long and I wont being going any faster then just a crawl at that point. Anyone else off-road with 285's that barley run at full droop??? Any problem encountered???

well im running a 3" revtek lift w/ a rb 2" body lift and 305/70/16 maxxis mudders and i experience similar results at full turn and full droop. i wheel that truck quite a bit, and have yet to encounter any problems. hope this helps!

 

You might try adding a wheel spacer, 1/4" or so will help. Check the length of your wheel studs to make sure there is enough room for the spacer to fit in there. I carry some 1/4" spacers if you can't find any locally. I've run 1/4" spacers for many years on my '85.

 

I ran the 285 KM's on mine and when I had stock arms they rubbed slightly. I wheeled quite a bit like that with no issues.

Since I plan to go to 35's sometime soon. I got a set of the Sonoran Steel Shaved Arms ...there is no way these will ever rub, they are awesome.

 

are you still working with the stock 16x7 wheels? I am, and I'm too scared to wheel mine because they come so close at droop with the sway bar connected.

I think 16x8 you should be fine. But not 16x7

 

Thanks for the info guys, Im still running the stock 16X7's. I think Im gonna go with it the way it is, Ill have a full size spare just in case...lol. I couldnt image how a 305-70-16 would fit with stock wheels, I was almost goone get those. Im guessing you pretty much need new wheels with a different off set to fit those. Maybe some of those shaved A-arms might be in order if there are any problems. Thanks again
