VA here too! Just north of Charlottesville in Greene County.

 

Good to see there's some interest in grouping up and wheeling/wrenching in VA. I'll be moving up to Langley the second week of December, looking forward to some new places and faces.

 

I'm always up for some wheelin too, as long as it isn't too long of a trip.

 

awesome. Fairfax isnt too far from Langley! What type of job did you get there? Richmond is about 1.5 hours from NoVA! WE definately need to wrench...for some reason my rear right brake keeps sticking?

 

I am in the Air Force, got a staff job at HQ/ACC if that means anything to you. I'll be there for 3 years.

I had the same problem with the right rear brake sticking, seemed to happen when it would sit over night, I just took it apart and cleaned it up really good and no problems since. I think there was a buildup of dust and dirt inside the drum that the pad would stick on.

 

Great way to meet up soon is come camping and wheeling next weekend. Even if you can't camp, come for the day.

I propose an in-town meet the last weekend of OCtober or first of November.

BTW.. there are two Langly's.. Fairfax County, highest of the very high $$$ burbs.. home to the CIA... and Langly AFB in Newprt News.. both about the same (close) distance from Gum Springs..

On Edit.. rear breaks.. early 1st gen had a problem with the emergency brake cable entry thru the backing plate, the right angle eccentric would corrode, bind and not release.. they sorta fixed the problem by changing the alloys and/or plating of the parts but that could be something to look at.. if so, just remove & disassemble the pieces.. clean and grease & reinstall..
