I went back out to this muddy area near my house today, and I decided to hit a puddle after all, and when I did, there must have been a rock at the bottom, and my drivers side tire (i think) hit it, nothing appears to be damaged, and it shifed back into 2WD drive fine and everything, on the way home it still felt ok, but do any of you think I may have messed something up? I just got an alignment not to long ago, which is why I am concerned...

Exactly how hard did you hit it?

I'd bring it back for alignment again and have the shop check the steering components.

 

yea usually shops have a policy for the alignment..here there is a shop that will realign for free for 7 days...which isn't that long..but better than nothing...go check it out.

 

I didn't hit it extremely hard, I wasn't going that fast, didn't have much space to accelerate from.
It's been longer than 7 days since the alignment though, hmm oh well. Thanks for the suggestions, next time I have some money to spare I'll bring it in.

Dude if your worried about messing up your truck every single time you hit something I would quit taking it offroad. I've been down dirt roads at 60 mph in Toyota's, jumped them, rolled them, buried em up to the windows. They are tough machines believe me. I understand you concerned for your baby as I am too when offroading but it kinda takes all the fun out of it if you wonder if you messed something up every time you go out doesn't it??

 

Your steering and front suspension stuff is all pretty burley. I've nailed all of my front stuff hard on rocks while off roading. I've dented the frame crossmember and scratched the lower A Arms pretty bad but the allignment is still fine. If it dosent pull to one side on straight roads and if the steering wheel is centered you are fine.

 

Yeah, I guess you're right, I guess I am just paranoid because I'm still in high school and don't ever have enough money to do anything except buy it gas. I am also not familiar with how tough Toyota's are.

That is good to know, I guess maybe I will stop worrying about it so much from now on.. lol

think about this, alot of toyota freaks are driving toyotas that are older than you. show me an american car that is that old and there is a 40-50% chance its been rebilt. On the other hand the toyota probably has an exhaust redone, clutch and maby a head gasket and some rust patched.
