Here's pics of bumpers on their site:

As far as the legality of custom bumpers, I think the laws are more geared to the height of the bumper off the ground moreso than anything else.

Might want to check their forum - I remember seeing more pics over there.

That's for their own liability tho. as far getting stoppped for a bumper, I've only heard of this happpening due to height laws or for not having one at all.

I don't have custom bumpers yet, but am gearing up to make them (yes, it is going painfully slow due to other endeavors). I'm not so sure mine would be cheaper than Marlin's though. The designs I have worked up are pretty involved.

I've got to finish my bender 1st and foremost!

BTW, Pinnochio Enterprises isn't my company, it's a poke at a company with questionable ethics. I'm not ready to roll mine out just yet.

i remember hearing that a bunch of guys got hassled on one of the winter snow runs here in washington this winter. supposedly tube bumpers like marlin's, all pro's and badland's are illegal on the road in this state, because you're requred to have a solid 4" strip across it

99% of manufacturers do not go through the extensive testing process to get DOT certification for their bumpers. The tests require that they submit multiple bumpers for crash tests, air bag compliance, etc. As a result, most bumpers are not DOT stamped. Exceptions are ARB and TJM, among some possible others.

Add to that the state laws that might be even more specific about what a bumper might look like and you will find that most aftermarket bmpers are stamped "Off Road Use Only".

I have never seen an officer go looking for the DOT number on a bumper that otherwise looked like it was legal, but technically he could. For more details on what happened at the Washington run where we lectured about bumper legality, see the WATTORA website section on Washington Laws.

Call Marlin and ask for the DOT number for the bumper you are interested in, if you are really interested in knowing. He will either give it to you or will tell you that the bumper is meant for "Off Road Only".
