Question Manual Hub Conversion

I'm thinking of converting the ADD hubs on a 2nd generation 4Runner to manual Warn hubs. I have a couple of questions for those who have done this conversion. Will the stock 4Runner wheel caps for manual hubs fit over the Warn hubs? Second, what gaskets will I need to purchase? Thanks for your help.

I just switched my hubs over to Aisin hubs this weekend they are very easy to install and work with the factory hub covers (center caps). I painted mine all black and from a distance you can't even tell I changed them. They ran me $50 at the local u-pull-it!

Go with the Aisins. Toyota OEM and probably a lot cheaper. Then there would be two gaskets and an O-ring for each side to purchase. Then cut out the center of the cap and place over the hub. Looks sharp.

Got mine on last weekend, even without the covers, they look sharp. Super easy install. Or just check the write -ups in the tech section or use the search read over the gazillion posts already here. Good luck.

Those ADD drive flanges sure are handy to keep around as trail spares in case anything happens to the hubs.

I did the Warn hub conversion this summer. All you need besides what comes w/ the kit is 2 paper gaskets (1 for each side) for where the back of the Warn hub goes agains thet inner hub (right word?) flange. These gaskets are about $1 at your local dealer. Also, the plastic wheel covers do not fit over the hubs, but the Warn hubs do look nice.

Also, some tips:

1) To get the cone washers out, use a very small, tapered punch that can fit into the slit on each cone washer. Drive the tapered punch into the cone washer slit, and it will push out the cone washer.

2) You will need two 8mm bolts that are about 3" long to remove the ADD hub.

3) Do remove the dust cover and small brass(?) bolt and washer in the end of the axle before removing the ADD hub. Otherwise you will turn the washer into a little brass teepee (personal experience :pat: )
