on the 4th gen., the resonator (one of them) is right behind the exhaust tip ... looks like a big buldge. i chopped it off and replaced the tip with something non-resonated.

anyone know the sound difference between the universal magnaflow and the magnaflow XL ???

Update on muffler

Thanks for all the feed back everyone.Just a note to clear things up.I went with the 14325 stainless steel muffler because I was replacing my cheap ass rusted factory muffler with a life time unit and that is what the parts store had in stock (there fore cheaper). The parts store had a catback Magna Flow exhaust installed on a Dodge Dakota V6 and I was really impressed with the sound and expected it to sound just as good on my truck.I have now put about 750Km's on it and it has gotten louder. It sounds best @ 3000 rpm in 3rd gear. Also went through a parking garage the other day and it sounded really good.I am not running any kind of tip at the moment (but would like suggestions) just the 2.25 pipe coming out at a 90* behind the wheel and back cut at 45*.It seems to be a little peppier but I have not checked the mileage as yet.Future mods free flow air filter and custom intake pipe, temp sensor mod and possibly knock sensor wire mod.

I just got a Flowmaster 40 installed yesterday - it's great. One question...any concerns regarding heat generation from the Flowmaster for any nearby parts/components?

I really like my borla muffler. Great sound and it will never wear out, supposedly. It's just really pricey. I had a muffler shop make up a cheater pipe to fit where the catalytic converter sits so when I bored of the sound with the cat on, i change it out in around 10 minutes or so. Without the cat and it's a lot louder, almost sounds like headers. With the cat it's a nice deep sound that's never annoying.

I had a flowmaster before i redid my exhaust to a magnaflow...and although i found the flowmaster to be a bit louder...i noticed the magnaflow had a smoother sounding idle
keep in mind i've got a 4cyl tho...
