LS1?LS6 swap
#2
I havent heard of anyone doing it. would be totally cool though. I think for the money though youd be better of using a 4.8l or a 5.3l out of a truck, there all aluminum and use parts similar to the ls1's. Biggest thing would be finding a engine/tranny/transfercase that would work. I dont think smog would be a problem, Ls1 motors are pretty enviro freindly. Ive heard some guys pass smog (no CAL) with no cats. So running cats I wouldn't c any problems. As far as the swap itself if I was going to do it I would deff. go with a painless wiring harness. I would have to think it would be almost impossible without one. If I had the cash I would deff. atempt it. nothin beats an ls1's powerband. I couldn't imagine adding a 125 horse and about 200 ft lbs of torque from my current setup

I DEFINATELY want a bigger engine in my truck! I had to leave it at the dealer for a few days this week and was stuck driving my Dad's big ole' Chevy, with the 5.7L V8 in it...man that acceleration was NICE! I was wondering what it would take to fit that into MY truck?!?!
If that 5.7 can haul his ext. cab 8 foot bed Chevy around...imagine my tiny (in comparison) 4-Runner around...OH MAN!!
Let us know what happens with the swap man!

Thanks for the replys. I found Grady's Extreme Offroad in Sacramento and he says that he can do the swap...Cost of the swap would be around $2-3k not including the engine. Now All I have to do is save money to do it!
