Hello all
Looking at an 86 4runner SR5 that's been lifted around 5" (addaleaf, 2" blocks) and is running 32" tires at the moment.
Looking to have it lowered back to stock plus maybe an inch, for road use again.
Apart from looking the truck over for frame damage, are there any particular caveats to be aware of when putting this car back to mainly road use?

i'd say look for another truck. why pay for all that aftermarket suspension and labor just to tear it apart?

seems weird to buy a jacked up rig just to make it a mall cruiser again. just my .02 though

Man I never want to see that again. I could have doen with out that. It is pretty remarkable thiough. Where'd all the suspension parts go? That has to be a complete fab job.

that is so photoshopped... the wheels should be coming through the hood. I don't think somebody who would drop their truck that much would leave everythign else stock, which it is. terrible chop.

I like the 3rd gen. Oh well its my taste. I like lifted and lowered rigs if done right.

I agree there are some good lookin ones. The 3rd gen is pretty cool. It's just the 1st gen that looks really bad to me. I don't think that the 1st gen's are sleek enough to look good lowered. Plus I'm always thinking of them offroading so it was a wierd paradigm shift.

That second gen look ridiculous on wire wheels. I couldn't help but smirk when I saw it. ANYWAYS looks like this thread got jacked. I think it was said best to look for one that's close to stock rather than change the whols suspension out. But If for some reason you have to have that one then it can be one. I'm probably not the best person to tell you how though .

 

the puke lime green one looks like a hearse. how could you ever be seen driving something like that? i always see guys like that slowing down for every pot hole and avoiding driveways cause it'll rip off their body.. what's the point?

Why not? 1st gens are hard to come by. I doubt he's paying much of a premium for a POS lift kit with add a leafs and blocks anyway. And nothing says "mall cruiser" like an IFS runner lifted with AALs and lift blocks in the rear.

My question is, how is the front lifted? That could be harder to return to stock. Rear is easy, rip out those blocks out and throw them at someone first thing. Try running it with just the AAL and see if you like the ride/height. If it rides like a pogo stick, rip that out too. You can clear 32s on a stock IFS runner as long as the offset of the wheels is close to stock and they are not too wide. You'll probably need shorter shocks too. It likely has longer shocks that will be almost fully compressed at stock ride height.
