Low heat

I'm not getting much heat from my 84 pickup. Coolant level, thermostat, heater core, anything else? Suggestions?

Heater control valve stuck, clogged rad., only other options.

replace thermostat first, cheapest options first. Older toys didn't have the greatest heat anyways(at least mine). heater core next.

There is a cable that runs to the bottom of the heater case (pass side). It sometimes gets kicked loose on my kids truck.......then no heat

My old '88 has nice toasty heat even with a 180* stat. It's gonna be cold though. It's getting down into the lower 40's tonight. I better go turn that heater up. Brrrrrr.

84pickup,

Yeah, try the thermostat first. If it's not that, then check the cable leading to the flapper door in the interior and check the one on the heater valve inside the engine compartment. I bet it's probably one of the control cables.

My heater controll valve was frozen half open, and the cable had jumped off the back of the cotroll lever. Pulled a used valve off a junked yota, reconnected the cable and violla, heat! I was only getting a little heat. Ya never know till you tear into it. Good luck!
