Fix it? I dont know. I'm at 300k and it sits now that I drive 2 hours every day. So probably selling time.
But, I am so curious to what the oil filter look like.

Thanks

Well went to the local dealership.
Had to get the tires balanced/rotated (which the dealer has the right adaptors, works great).
The tech said the noise was from the muffler. The damper is split/worn and makes a high pitched whistle/shrill. Guess what, I believe him.
Anyone else hear of this?
With 300k miles time for a muffler!
Will let you know when I change some time in the near furture. Anyone have a good 3.4 muffler they want to sell?
Mike

The only problem I would have with that would be why did the Lucas change the noise? That's a classic sign of a bearing issue.

I would take a look and see how hard it would be to swap hers onto yours. Did you ever cut the oil filter apart? It's a cheap way to tell a lot

I bought the bosal exhaust ($110). Bolted up, after I cut the muffler off to remove. The tail pipe bolts were welded on. Had to use my angle grinder to remove!
Once installed the noise was immediately gone. Note: just pulling the 4runner into the garage I had the noise!.
How abouit that!
