Looking at a 99 4Runner. Questions

I was looking at a 99 4Runner for a friend, and to me, it looks like something belongs in the compartment in the cargo area on the passenger side. There are straps, but nothing in there. Tool kit?

What should we look closely at in regards to potential problems? It seems quite steep at $10,600. Kbb puts it between 4,200 and 8,000. It has an ARB bar, but that's it for mods.

Thanks,
Dave

There is nothing that goes into the cargo compartment from the factory. If I'm not mistaken, I think Toyota does (or at least did) sell either a little first-aid kit or a set of reflective triangles (for when you're stranded on the side of the road) to go in there.

All the tools that come with the 4Runner (jack, jack handle, lug wrench, etc...) are located under the rear passenger seat bottom (seat bottom folds up to reveal a storage compartment under the carpet.)

What trim? SR5, Limited, Highlander? But $10K is too high.

Who's "they"? When you buy a vehicle from the dealer, no hitch and ball usually come with the vehicle.

I used to have a set of jumper cables, my backup recovery strap, and a funnel all jammed in there.

If you buy in Brazil, you get a triangle in there. (See my sig.) You also get a fire extinguisher in front of the driver seat. Both by law. I am sure there are other countries that require new vehicles be sold with the triangle. The fire extinguisher reflects the time when half the rolling fleet was air-cooled VW bugs that regularly caught fire in Brazilian heat.
