In my quest for a 3rd gen, I'm finding that the locker is virtually nonexistent on 99-00 SR5s. It's on about 50% of the Limiteds I am looking at, but I have seen ONE SR5 out of maybe 40 that has had the locker. Officially it was available as a stand-alone option or part of the SX Sport/Highlander package. Just out of curiousity, how many of you with SR5s have the factory locker?

2000 sr5 Manual 5spd

 

I have a 99 SR5 5 speed with the factory rear locker.

 

Gee...doesn't that 00 Limited you have have a locker? Oh..thats right, you traded that thing off for a JEEP!

 

00 with 5-spd and rear locker here.

 

97 SR5 with a 2.7L with rear lock .

 

99 auto, 3.4L and locker here

 

I had the same trouble here. I found over 120 '99 or '00 4Runners within 150 miles of me and four were 5-speeds. None of the manuals had e-lockers. Three of the four 5-spds had LTD flares and 16" wheels. One had a hood scoop.
I bought a real clean '00 with 74,000 on it and I will eventually retrofit a locker (or two).

98 SR5 With the TRD option group. Has a locker. I have a friend with a 97 SR5 with a locker too.

I was actually talking more SR5s... Limiteds with the locker aren't hard to come by at all. My 2000 had it. Even in 4x4-rare Texas where I bought mine, I didn't have a difficult time finding one. There were several on the lot in the right color.

I mean SR5s. I browsed every 96-00 SR5 on eBay and only one had it... out of maybe 40 or 50. I guess the 4-banger lockers are even rarer!

I was in the same boat during my quest for a 4runner in 2002. I really wanted a 5-spd SR5 with the locker. In over three months of searching I only found one 5spd, but it was lockerless and beat up. On the flip side, almost all the limiteds around here have the lockers, but I do not like the limited trim (wood dash, leather seats, and cladding are not my thing). I ended up getting a SR5 auto and retrofitting the locker.

 

Mind if I ask what you paid...

That's on my list for the summer...

I figured 1250.00 for an installed ARB...Figured I'd upgrade to the 4.88 gears when I did it as well...
