Anyone ever tried limiting straps for the front?

Would it help stop the swaybar connects from breaking?

What would you mount them too?

If that is a problem for you, have you thought about disconnecting the swaybar end links when you go off road like the rest of us?? I think you will like the difference in traction and the ride quality off road when you disconnect.

You don't need limiting straps for the front.

I thought bout that, but everyone says it's a pain in the ass to re-connect them

Also, sometimes I will go out thinking that it's going to be a mellow wheeling trip, and find myself dooing some pretty tough ˟˟˟˟!

Locking the hubs on my old 86 wasn't that bad, but having to get out and disconnect the swaybar......Less time outside in the mud, more time inside with the Ladies Anyways, my beverage might get lonley j/k

 

I'm looking at doing to swaybar disconnects this weekend or next. Not because I've broken mine, just want more articulation.

This idea looks the best of the ones I've seen. It's simple and shouldn't rattle. To disconnect just pull the pins. To reconnect, everything is already lined up due to the springs and you just stick the pins back in.

I'll let you know how it goes if you're interested.

 

Have you looked at the Lars Dennert design? He also has the parts and instructions to build his design here.

 

I just bought the Lars ones for $80 shipped. I'm using them in conjunction with the addco swaybars, so I can have the best of both worlds.

1/2" discos seem like the way to go! You guys have talked me out of the limiting strap idea......for now...

 

Limiting straps are usually used on the rear incase the shock breaks. If the shock breaks on the rear, the axle can extend to far and cause the spring to fall out. The limiting straps only come into play if the shock breaks to prevent the axle from extending to far. I don't know of anyone that uses them on the front. It is completely different suspension design.

I know that some of us have swaybar discos, I just didn't know all of us did. I guess I am behind the times.
Anyway, not a completely different suspension design. Just another Mod, or bandaide for this issue.
Oh ya, Aren't the limiting straps supposed to prevent the shock from breaking?
