Ball Mount?????

I never got one with my 4x4 Limited V8 when I picked it up. Was one supposed to be supplied or are they now supplying one? Could you post what the memo says. Is this only in the U.S or is Canada included? I was thinking of purchasing a unit but if Toyota are going to do it, excellent.

I haven't seen anything on the hitch. Would love to see them upgrade my hitch to the new capacity! However, my aftermarket receiver fits fine. I received the Service campaigne for the vanity mirrors. No lights on them sucks! Waiting for the parts to come in from the dealer. Funny thing is that my dealer didn't even know about the vanity mirror campaign when I called them for the appointment! I had to fax the letter to them. Idiots!

On a side note, Anybody have any issues with the back tailgate rattling on bumpy roads. It doesn't rattle with the glass down so I'm suspecting it's the glass. Anyone?

If you got a reciever on your 4Runner you should have got the hitch. A regular one does not fit 'cause it hits the spare. The only thing I did not get was the actual ball.

I just dropped my truck off at the dealer for the rear passanger weather strip to be replaced because of the stupid metal box that holds the key kinked it.

I mentioned to my service tech. that my drivers seat rattles. They recieved a bulliten that they need to grease it up.

Sorry, I'm rambelling. Must be the medication.

Okay, Here's the deal! I have the V8 SR5 with the factory installed hitch purchased in Jan 2003. I did receive the ball mount attachment (ball not included) and it fits. Everyone who has a factory installed hitch should get one. I just called Toyota on this.

My question is on the campaign. Is it for a new ball mount attachment or for a whole new receiver hitch? Toyota didn't know and I never received the letter even though my truck was part of the campaign.

I know that Toyota upgraded the capacity on the receiver hitch. I don't know if they are swaping them out for the upgrade. Does the letter shed any light on this?

Same here, plus a square rubber Toyota logo plug for when the hitch is removed, and the plug harness adapter.

BT17R,
Same same... I don't blame Toyota for not giving a ball and there are different sizes for different apps. I have the rubber plug in now. But, I have a 2" ball in the hitch/plug.

I took my 03 4runner in because I couldn’t fit my class 3 ball mount I have used on 3 other trucks.
They basically told me the ball mount that Toyota provided fits and if you can find an aftermarket one
That fits your lucky because they designed the receiver for there ball mount and they don’t know if the new
Up graded one is any different and that they aren’t replacing the old with the new.
So iam getting an aftermarket one hidden hitch makes one http://www.hiddenhitch.com
Hidden hitch has a square opening Toyota is rounded

Again, I have the factory hitch receiver and a hidden hitch chrome ball mount from www.overtons.com that fits perfect. I think it was $29. The chrome bulley 2" ball from them was another $30.

No problems...

It doesn’t matter I need weight distribution and you can only use weight carrying with the early version

FYI...

The SSC# 30F "LSC 2003 4Runner Ball Mount" is to replace a certain number of defective drawbars that do not fit in the 2" Class III receiver hitch. Mine fit fine. This SSC is NOT to replace the Class III hitch with a Class IV hitch.

Most aftermarket drawbars are too long, and hit the spare tire before the holes in the receiver hitch align with the holes in the drawbar. The drawbar that comes standard with the 4Runner is the right length, and fits fine.

My chrome Bulley drawbar from my old vehicle was too long, so I took it to a local machine shop and cut about 1.5" off the end so it would fit. Cost was $10.
