Limited Fender Flare Removal

Limited Fender Flare Removal
well this morn i attempted to remove the Limited Fender Flares on my SR5 to replace them with the stock black SR5 flares. i say attempted b/c after i removed the DS front flare, i knew it wasnt going to work.
apparently, the Limited flares require A LOT of drilling (about 6 holes that are rectangular and about .5" in diameter) into the outside of the fender for installation. the holes are used for grommets that punch into the inside of the LTD flare.
this is bad news b/c after i placed the SR5 flare onto the fender, the holes were not covered by the new flare. they were a good 1-2" short of covering the holes. obviously the SR5 flares are smaller.
this sucks b/c i really liked the idea of smaller flares, as well as the look of the black.
oh well, guess im stuck with these huge silver monsters.
just a heads up for others who were considering this.

RT,
Some good info, thanks. I know this quesiton has come up many times, mostly from people who want to do the reverse of what you did. Post some pics of those holes and I think it might convince most people that this mod might not be worth all the trouble!

Well now I know for sure, I figured the problem would be with the rear door cladding being attached to the rear flare. Probably still is a problem, you just found another one first.
Hopefully you didn't spend too much on the smaller flares.
