Lift Question

I am thinking about a lift kit, however, I have been seeing that the 6 inch suspension lifts are not for double cabs? Why is that? Also, would an automatic (yes, i have a prerunner) need regearing? Thank you!

dunno about the d-cabs.

as far as re-gearing goes, it depends on how big/heavy of a tire you get and how much power you are willing to sacrifice.

re-gearing is pretty darn expensive, and as most people would say, if you're gonna re-gear, you might as well throw a locker in, which just adds up the cost.

Regearing labor: $250
Regearing parts: $250-$500

The gears go in your axle, the tranny will only impact what ratio you should choose.

actually that doesn't seem that bad.......

Is that for both front AND rear flyg? I doubt it though cuz it seems too cheap.

No, that would be what it could or should cost the poster to regear.

2wd equals one diff and it is rear which is easier.

I have posted a couple times in regearing threads about what a person could or should pay for each end in parts and labor.

I believe that I have even posted what I paid.

And the above is only for regearing, no locker, just regearing a stock open diff.

I have a stock E-locker already in it, would that have to be changed?

you can either use the TM 6" or the ProComp 6" kits for your tacoma. the manufacturer may say no no since you have a newer tacoma or a double cab, but the tacoma suspension for 4x4, Pre-runners, and double cabs are all the same.
