Here was my first good stuck. Climbing a hella-steep muddy hill, tried to cross over the rut at the top, got crossed up and sideways:

Had to keep a few folks on the front bumper to keep it down.

Took about 30 minutes for a Ford p/u to drive around to the top of the trail and backtrack down to give me a 2' tug:

The pisser was I had just got my new Warn winch the day before the run and I debated staying up late and installing it. But I decided to wait until after that run to do a better install job. So I could have gotten out under my own power if that winch had not been sitting on the floor of my garage!

I remember that one. As the story went, that picture wasn't quite the furthest that you were over. It was a little late. And it was a BRAND new 4runner. Crazy stuff.

That looks familiar. I think I know that spot. The pucker factor is HIGH! how the hell did you end up in that position? Must have been Lance doing the spotting. :

Winner of the most burried award so far!!!!!!!!

But we all know which one was the most harry.... I would have stayed to the right side of the path!

Fortunatly I haven't gotten stuck anywhere yet. Went muddin just the other day and almost did but was able to get out. I was just surprised my front CV didn't fall apart. They haven't been protected by sealed boots in about 1.5 years. I still have the replacement axles, but I am waiting for these to bust first. I guess those Aisin hubs do there job!

Then my leaner...

The only thing keeping me from rolling down theh hill is that little tree on the far side of my rig. It was pretty scary though you can't reallly tell in the picture.

you can't see it pulling in that original pic either. the line isn't tight, haha, I wouldn't think that heep with street slicks could pull a runner out of a mud pit like that, no traction or weight.

Man, I gotta dig out and scan some of the old (pre-digital) pictures. I have boxes with 25 years of 4 wheelin pics, and there's some good ones in there. Posted these before:

Yeah, the winch is there, but the guy behind me yanked me back out. Pretty deep too, those are 33s.

That was the day a stick went through the pulleys (in that very mud hole if I remember right) and took off the belt that drives the water pump. Between us we didn't have wrenches to work on it, and it was a long trip home. Luckily that trail was a steep climb. I would coast down a section (exciting that!) Start er up and drive through the next mud hole. Shut it off and coast down the trail some more. Etc. Got it all the way to the highway that way. Then took a tow for about 3 miles to a friendly farmhouse and parked it. Came back the next day with tools and new belts. I miss those days.

Not beaten that easy Robbie tries it from this side

Ok, no matter how hard I tried out in Pismo, there was no way I could get myself stuck. The only way I managed, was by pulling a VW buggy that ran out of fuel back to their camp. On the way back I drove up a razor back dune, I made it over the top, but that buggy acted like an anchor and brought me to a stop. Since there was another Taco following me back, I decided to spin myself in, as deep as I could
