Lets see those fog lamps

Stop me if someone's done this before. I was looking to get some foglights for my second gen and I just wanted to see what other people have done. So far i hear you can get a pair that fit real nice next to the license plate from pep boys for cheap. You guys got a toyota switch, used a switch that came with it or a remote? Other generations welcome to post also. Ideas can come from anywhere.

Actually i just want to see everyone's lighting set up. Let's not limit this to fog lamps.

edit: yeah that's right, I can change my mind.

I have the same size piaa lights (1400x) and I have been struggling with finding a way to mount them. How did you go about it?

bamachem,

How do you have the Hella's mounted? I noticed that you don't have them drilled straight through the bumper. I'd like to get a set and mount them in a similar fashion.

This is from a long ways away zoomed in. They are just cheap fog/driving lights (Hella Optilux 20/20). So they are two sets of lights in one housing and I can toggle between driving and fog, kind of like a hi-beam/low-beam. But they're cool! I like the fog lights the most. I would have spread mine further apart, but the bumper has plastic "supports" in the way. I could have sawed them, but I decided not to cut stuff up. They're mounted directly to the bumper. Man, do the Tacomas ever come with a piece of crap stock bumper. there's no support there!! Seriously, the only metal is beneath the narrow lower piece that the lights are attached to and it's only a few inches longer across as the narrow piece itself. I want an ARB....

Hey, do you find that your fogs kind of rattle on the freeway?
Whenever I turn mine on at night and drive I just know (looking at the light pattern at the edges) that the fogs are rattling every which way.

They're bolted to the valence/bumper thing just fine but that's not very steady, is it?

Mine are bolted right to the metal that is beneath the plastic. Are your's? Mine don't rattle, and I'm actually pretty pleased with how they are mounted. They don't stick out, but I might someday redo it and widen them out. I'll have to saw to do it.

PS - will some people check out my own thread about where to mount off-road lights too? I hate to steal from this thread, but I felt that the topics were slightly different...... It's a different vehicle anyway

I'm curious, too. I saw that you (bamachem) posted that they are, in fact, attached to the bumper. But if the 4runner front end is anything like my tacoma, the only actual metal is that very bottom narrow piece that goes across. There is no metal in the same area as where you have your lights mounted on my tacoma. I was considering a similar set up for my truck, but I'm wary of mounting to plastic.

PS - I guess in my mind, the bumper is only the metal part, the rest is plastic attachment.
