Let there be light!
My newest investment:
I got rid of those current sucking 150 watt KC's a while back and finally replaced them with the much more efficient 500's that I can actually run at idle without overloading the alternator.
Mounted:
Setting up the relay:
Wiring the switch. It sure was a pain in the @$$ getting that sucker in there:
Since I'm using an aftermarket headlight harness, I had one spare stock harness laying around that would do well for a switching source for the lights:
TA-DA!:
I'm also adding some cheap walmart fog lights underneath these on the bumper. I also bought some cheap driving lights from WalMart that I'm going to mount underneath the rear bumper somewhere for backup lights. I'm also fooling with the idea of outside door lights mounted underneath that will light up with a remote as well as with a switch... like rock lights but also useful for everyday (well, night) use.

Looks good Chris, I dig my two sets of Hella 500s.
I use them every night on a two mile strech of road that has almost zero traffic on it.
Hey, your one pic underneath the hood almost looks like mine.
You can see one of my relays to the left.
Not sure which lights they go to, I have 3 for lights under there, one for the horns, and a bigger one for the Warn Power Interupt.

2. I got it on clearance from a local tire shop. I paid $250. I'm struggling to remember the name, but it's a Smittybuilt lookalike. For some reason, Wildcat Flash for the brand pops into my head.

I'm running my electric fan and the lights off of it so far. I'm also going to hook up the rest of the lights to it as well. With the 8 guage wire powering it, I know it won't be a problem. It's definitely a lot easier and cleaner than wiring everything straight to the battery. With all the accessories I have now, no way could I do without it.
Thanks for the compliments, guys!

Hella 500s fog or driving?
Chris,
Nice, clean install! I assume those are fogs and not driving, did you ever say which? I just got some Hella 500 fogs off Ebay yesterday that I'm going to put in the bumper for now. I drive to work each morning before sun up and it is near the river so it is major foggy some days. I don't relish t-boning a deer one morning.
Is that the switch that came with the kit in your pic?

Brian,
Those are the driving lamps, and that is the switch that came with the lights. It's a nice switch as it illuminates when you flip it on. I wish it would illuminate while it was off only when the engine was running so it would be easier to find. Maybe I could figure out how to do this later on.
I also went to a parts store and bought 2 more switches that look exactly like that one for the other lights I'm going to put on. But I'm seriously re-thinking that now since that switch was a major pain to get in there and the others won't be any easier.

What would be better to mount on the top of the bumper, a driving light or a fog? I can imagine that a driving light would, but I only want to buy one set and everyone says fogs should be mounted low. Any suggestions? I really want to get a set for my runner, but I can't really decide what would be best. Maybe getting the Hella 550s and mouning them in the valence? Here in Oregon, its always raining, especially now that winters coming. Any suggestions? Also, what are your opinions on a new light harness? I emailed Daniel Stern, since everyone said hes the man to talk to about lighting, but I never got a response.
Thanks a bunch guys.
And Chrurnd, new lights are lookin very sweet! I think im jealous, wait, yes I am.
