Lengthening the battery cable...

I'm moving my battery to the other side of the engine and I have to lengthen the cables. Could I double-up 10 gauge wire, and use that to lengthen it? Thanks.

when you say "cables"....

you mean the accessory/electronic leads... and not the heavy starting cables right ?

no you must get heavy cables like 4 gauge, to run your starter properly.

ya, I did the same for my tacoma-- but it was 2 guage and i used a copper pipe to connect the two wires together and put some neoprene shrink wrap around it-- I suppose you could just get like 6' of car audio 2 guage and some connectors and that should do it.

GO to the welding supply shop for your wire, Car audio wire is WAAYYY marked up.

I got 2 gauge for less than a 1.00 a foot yesterday. (I think I could have done better If I had shopped around other welding shops).

I got really long 2 GA starter cable from walmart. I think the longest I saw was 8 feet, with the ends already on there.

I did it a few weeks ago. It was really easy. Just went to Advanced Auto and bought two 60" battery cables. Didn't even have to cut my battery cables, Just bolted them right in. Here's some pictures.

if it meant more power or whatever I would, but with my 3rd gen I don't think it would do that much. I already installed new, longer 2GA starter and ground cables.
