I just got back from Jeff's place (www.badlandbumpers.com) to pick up my long awaited copy of "Lee's Hi Lift Jack cradle" that was first seen here on the forum as created by Lee (Firefyter-Emt) a while back. It was a great idea, and I contacted Jeff regarding producing them since I have tube bumpers and sliders all around my truck. Well I was pleased to see the end result. I will try it out tomorrow and post my results. They make it a lot safer to use the hi lift jack and prevent slipping. Thanks to Lee for the design, and especially to Jeff for producing them! Very nice. I had never thought of that before. Not only is the rig cradled, but with round tubing it will actually be able to rotate without trying to pull the jack over so much, and always keep the same amount of metal in contact with the jack throughout the range of movement. Wow, a great idea.

 

:pat: Dam! Now why didn't I think of that! About a month ago I used mine on my 80 pickup, well it was dangerous. I put it on my tube bumper and it slid along the bumper and came down hard... right after putting a new dent in my tailgate. Are you selling these and how much???

Unfortunately, with my cheap Toyota tube bumper, that much force will just bend it. My rear bumper is already tweaked enough as it is!

I may be going out Saturday to pick it up, plus my Badland Bumpers hat

This will really hold onto the sliderz, and be more safe.

 

I added a couple more pics of the cradle mounted on my hi-lift jack. I replaced the bolt and nylon locknut with a 3/4" clevis pin (Note the hitch pin and the padlock that secure the cradle to the jack)

I saw Lee's when he made his but totally forgot to get a hold of Jeff to make me one.

How long did it take Jeff to make yours?

 

Jeff sold me mine for $40.00 and he had quite a few made(I estimate that he had at least 10) I bought one and my buddy got one as well. I know that Corey has dibs on another one already. Other than that, I guess that they are up for grabs.

Looks like the Lee's Hi-Lift Adapter (tm) would be the best for sliders though.

 

I had one of the Hi-Lift bumper lift attachments before but when I got rid of the useless factory bumpers, I lost the need for them. I have tube bumpers front and rear as well as the sliders so this is the best for my situation.

 

I have the front adaptor for my ARB.

I did not make it out to Badland's this weekend.
I am going to shoot for next Friday if Jeff is home.

Yes, the new adaptor will cradle a slider perfectly, and not slip off.
Good for a safety point.

 

˟˟˟˟in sweet man!! I like it.. If I get a chance that is what I was going to alter mine to look like (The shackle point didn't work how I wanted it to) I am glad to see someone else make one.. Have you tried it out yet?? It is night and day on a slider while jacking..

BTW.. I must admitt, I got the basic idea from someone on the 4x4Wire board.. He has a better one IMHO, because he did achieve the tab to hook chain to when using the bracket to hand winch.. My design is not even close to the way he made his, but I do like his better.. Mine was eaiser to make because of the square tubing..

How did you guys do it without those fabbed pieces? Weld on jack perches or just take your chances? I would think in wet situations jacking sliders would be plain dangerous.

 

I actually had to jack up my truck by the slider on the trail when I had a flat tire a couple weeks ago. It was a pretty hazardous evolution to say the least. Luckily it went well. I am glad to have the slider cradle now though. Jeff's slider cradles are a little different as they have a cradle that is wide enough to use on his Badland Bumpers tube bumpers and sliders as well.

 

Yep.. too damn scarey for me, that is why I made mine!! I would guess about 90% more contact area than with the hi lift alone.. It takes very little for the jack to slide off without them..

 

I'm not sure how many of those cradles Jeff has left, but he now has one less with my order. I'd just like to say he is a great guy to deal with, excellent customer service.

 

I actually tested mine on my buddy's explorer today. I had to shave a little bit of metal from the hole in the "hook" of my buddy's hi-lift since the clevis pin was not lined up. After that it was a great fit. So I know that both our cradles are good to go. Jeff is a great guy. I am looking to get him to do the SAS on my truck in a little while. Just got to find me another ride to drive when he has the truck.

 

Actually he has (at least) two less than he did with Rome started this thread. I'll pick up mine tomorrow.

Price wise, in his words: "$40.00 cash or $40.00 plus tax for check or credit card".

He'll be out of town from Dec 19th - Jan 2nd, so act accordingly.
