Hey everyone...I bought a 3rd gen 4runner and it is absolutely pissing oil..aboot 1L(I'm canadian) or more in 200kms not sure what that converts to but its alot!
I knew it was leaking this much when I bought it... It seems to be leaking from the front of the motor, the guy said it was from the oil pan seal. I want to believe him. tomorrow I will degrease and have a better assessment. has anyone had any luck with not dropping the diff? where else could it be, the leak looks low and seems to be dripping in the front.
Has anyone done the lift the motor trick? if so any pointers? I'm pretty handy and probably could pull off the diff drop but I dont have the space

If front side from the bottom, could it also be from a horrible crankshaft seal??

In front of the diff is the frame so options are limited. Other way is from the top, but you'd have more work and need more space to put all the parts.

I vote diff. Maybe do a diff drop at the same time if you want to give the yota a lift...

 

Good News I finally got some time to get under it and take a look and got a 1/4 turn out of all the pan bolts and that seems to have got it to about 99% better so that will buy me some time to get it sorted out. $1500 well spent I think...
