Does anyone know if the front springs off a 97 LX "LC" work for the rear of my 3rd Gen? I'm just trying to do this right! Please help.

 

I think 97 = FJ-80. As long as it has a solid front axle, then I think you're good to go.

 

I've gotten mixed answers on those and weather or not to replace bump stops? Opions? I dont do any heavy roading. Can I just keep the stock stops?

 

J powder coated a set of LC springs for a guy with what i believe was a 3rd gen and he was planning on putting them on the rear. From what i hear they should fit.

 

I am using front FJ-80 coils in the rear of my truck, with stock cone stops and bump stops.

It just is important that you get these from the correct vehicle. I'm pretty certain the FJ-80s were still in production in 97...possibly the last year of them.

 

You are correct. Rumor has it that the LX springs are softer than the Landcruiser's. Both the Lexus and Toyota are technically FZJ80's.

 

Ok cool, a couple people have told me now, not to worry about the stops if I don't wheel much. I'm just getting a boat and I would like it to sit level when I tow. I already have the 2.5 inch daystar lift. Just looking to replace the spacers in back and gain another inch or so.

 

Yeah 91-97 years will work. You will get a rake look to your rig once you put them in.

Well not that much though? I'm already running the Daystar spacer lift "2.5" , So if I'm towing it shouldn't be sagging I dont think. I should only be gaining an inch over what I have now from what I've read.

 

So buying shocks, Couldnt I just look up a Landcruiser stock shock for a 0" lift and it should work for the LC80 coils Im getting . Regardless of brand??? I was looking at ranchos. 3rd gen LC 80 spring lift and stock ranchos intended for a land cruiser rear. Stock Rancho LC RS5208 is for a stock land cruiser.

 

Yeah, thats what I meant, you will have a slight rake look when sitting level under no load. (the rear being slightly higher).

I just installed LC coils on mine with LC shocks. (its still sitting in the garage though with the front end apart) so I can give any ride advice, etc as of yet.

Thats what I'm running... LC coils/shocks. Actually Old man emu shocks, so they are a little longer. I am running 5-6" of lift back there though.

 

Has anyone ever run procomp shocks? 4WP is have a sale for like 150 for all four? Just wondering if there just throw aways or is that a deal. When OME, And Bils, are like 70 + each, Ranchos are like 50ea.???

 

Well I have a guy that'll sell me his front springs. Should wait 2 weeks to get the LX450 springs or should I start looking for actual LC coil springs?

 

Not to beat a dead horse here, Is anyone running these 97' LX450 Coils and could you tell me the oreintation for them. What colors go on what side?

 

Color codes really don't matter for 4runner use, just put the longer LC coil on the driver side to account for the gas tank weight, etc.
The biggest things to ask for when buying your coils used are:

What year?
How many miles?
Did the coils hold a brush gaurd, etc? (added weight which could have caused some sagging)
and......How much?

 

I've gotten like 3 seperate people trying to sell me 97' LX 450 springs. But I'm leery to get them because I haven't found anyone thats actually put them on. Everyone seems to use like 93 or 95 coils I guess?? Should I go for it? All of them are asking $50 bucks. I got the LC shocks taken care of.

 

Alright, I found the answer I'm looking for! The LX450 springs will work however you will not get the full lift that you would from the 93 LC springs.

yeah, it seems the old ones 91-93 ish will give sometimes OVER 4 inches of lift. I believe the ones I put on are from a 95 or 96. They are installed, but I have not done any measurements yet....soon to come.

Springs that are from 94-97 seem to range between 3.5 to 4 inches.
