Know what I've always wondered?

What's the deal with me not having airbags in my 1995 4Runner? I'm only 22, but it seems to me that by 1995 most vehicles had atleast drivers side airbags. In all honesty, the interiors of 2nd gens suck in general. They are pretty bland and very dated in comparison to some of the other older cars I've owned. My friends 94 Thunderbird even has a better interior and it's a peice of junk.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 4Runner but man the interior is pretty lame.

Think 'generations'...

Yours is a 2nd gen, I think they were 90-95. So your truck was basically designed in '90, but you have one made in '95. Early '90's japanese cars? Ya, the interior isn't anything to write home about, but it gets the job done...

Mine doesn't have airbags either. I don't really mind too much though.

It's an SR5. It has power windows, power door locks, power steering, and an auto tranny. It's also got cruise control and an alarm that is disconnected because it goes crazy for no reason. The seats are cloth and there are no airbags.

I know what you mean about it being designed in 90, but adding atleast a drivers side airbag would have been pretty easy as a standard feature. The ugly interior is forgivable, but I would expect toyota to be a little more saftey-conciencous.

Perhaps the airbag was only standard on the Limited. I forgot about those.

I think it is because it is considered a truck--I dont think any pickups/suv's had airbags until later in the 90's.

I'm glad my truck doesnt' have airbags. the first generations of airbags were terribly dangerous.

Also I like how simple the toy dash is. It's simple and functional

I actually miss my interior of my 95.

The 2000 3rd gen interior just doesn't have the truck feel that my 95 did. It's the one thing I've not quite gotten over yet in the switch. One of the big reasons is because everything in the 95 bolted down to the dash, and it was completely solid, not a single noise.

Now I've got all kinds of noises that drive me crazy, especially when it gets cold, because all these parts just snap into place instead of screwing or bolting down. One of my biggest annoyances is the passenger side airbag rubbing where it's cover touches the rest of the dash.

Really, really annoying.

Agree!

I have a 95 SR5 and it's so quiet except for that 4,000 RPM noise from that thing up front. *laf*

I will put some sound deading material in the cab later this year. I enjoyed the write up that was done in the tech section.
