the keyless entry module is under the drivers seat-- it kind of sucks, no power back glass, no valet switch and bad range-- i have one here at my house if you want it, i pulled it out of a celica-- has the complete harness, but no remotes

For some reason, the owner's manual says the keyless entry module is under the driver's seat, but in my case they put it behind the glove box. It is a real pain to get to if you decide to replace the remote transmitter and have to reprogram the module.

The only wire under the driver's seat is usually for the seatbelt warning light.

Debbie- my '99 limited has keyless entry, but I had to go to the dealer with the vin # and they were able to tell me. I had the same situation as you, bought it used and only got one key. Anyway, after finding that out I bought a factory transmitter from ebay for $23(better than $70+ from dealer) and programmed it myself for free(better than $60+ from dealer) Let me know if you need the directions for programming the transmitter.

Hello all,
The girlfriend got a new(to her) 99' 4runner, so it's only mine in spirit. when she bought the truck it only came with one keyless entry remote. I'd like to pick up another one just because. I'm speaking with a gentleman locally to get one and checking e-bay so I dont have to starve paying what toyota wants for one. If I could get the directions to program this remote from Robt2k or anyone else, I would really appreciate it.
Rob, I sent you a PM

remote

Is this the two button remote? I've got one left from the 4Runner I rolled. The Runner I have now has a one button remote and is not compatable, so I have an extra.

It's actually three buttons, plus a panic on the back. Lock, Unlock, Rear window roll down on the front, and then the red panic on the back. Thanks in advance.
