Ok, on a 1997 4Runner that my dad has, the key wont turn past the ACC spot when turning the truck off. We have to turn it back to on and back a few times to get it to go past ACC to OFF so it will come out. It goes in fine. Turns to ON fine just happens when trying to remove the key. Any ideas?

 

Grind another key from the VIN, problem solved.

 

Sounds like it might be a problem with the shifter. If the truck doesn't think it's in park it won't release the key (assuming it's an auto).

well, problem there. i think it has a different ignition. the door key and the ignition key are different. ive never seen another one like that. is there a number on the ignition that i can take to toyota?
