Just wondering...

Does the 4th Gen. V6 has the same transmission as the 3rd Gen later models? I think so but need confirmation.

If so, engine swap would be a piece of cake isn't it? Wondering if anyone has done this kind of engine swap: 4th Gen. V6 into late 3rd Gen. V6? It would be nice to get 245HP with 283ft-lb of torque without the S/C.

Thanks,

Nam

Yes it would be nice. But if you want more pep reliably buy a newer Toyota. If you want to tow buy a SuperDuty, and if you want to go fast buy a Corvette.
The 3rd Gen is a great all around vehicle, even if in some categories it is not the best.

That is an interesting question. 4RUNR, some people don't like the new body style, but would like the power. To get a s/c in the third gens requires a lot of tuning and additional fuel mods and ecu piggy backs. If a 4th gen engine swap is possible, it might be a good alternative because you use stock 4th gen engine parts with no mods to the ecu and fuel delivery. Also, a newer engine.

But no actual mods performed on the actual engine accept for fitting it into the 4Runner.

I personally think the 3rd Gen does have a decent look; Also, the 3.4L V6 is pretty realiable...that's why I said...just wondering. Who knows, I may end up doing this 10 years from now.
