Just built the 1st Gen LimoRunner
Was poking around at Brian89's site for the south american truck, went out an took a pic of my runner in the right spot, add a little Photoshop... and Voila! Now how the heck can I get one of these IRL?

Ha!
Whoa, how much does the kit cost? There's an Excursion super duper duper duper stretch limo around here -- in fact I just saw it tonight when I went to get dinner. It seats 20!

The vanagon guy said he had to replace his rear axles since they snapped if he gave it too much gas with the wheel turned hard, too much leverage, but that's all I remember him saying was a serious problem. Would never want to thread this thing through anything offroad, but would be awesome for camping and long road trips, with lotsa people and gear. I did a month all over South America in the Izusu verison of the crew cab, 5 guys, each with a big backpack, then some extra gear and it was totally loaded. This thing would be ideal for transcontinental voyages. Would have to drop a 7mge or something in it. Was just looking at the highlander, and seems the hood is short enough that their 6cyl would fit a 1st gen.
Anyway, just toying with the idea... what do you guys think will break? What would it take to make it work? Go ahead and scratch your chin, I'll wait...

they excursion was like 175-230 i dont remember
and the h2 was a ˟˟˟˟ load of money but had 24's on it 3 15 eeclipse subs and a sick dvd system. supposedly they sold the h2 to some place in ny or ct

that limo photoshop looks a lot like some of the '86 double extended cabs around here. it was basically a regular or extended cab 4x4 pickup with an aftermarket extended cab with a high roof behind it that some company sold. possibly one of the ugliest toyotas you will ever find

problems
and you think us 1 generation owners have problems with the rear end sag now.......... but hey I would take it if someone built it!
you wouldn't have all the problems wih short wheel base trucks hitting ruts with the front and rear tires at the same time but the turning radious would be extream! and getting it high centered. talk about one long A$$ skid plate that would be needed!
but it would be cool to have! WITHOUT THE CAMPER TOP!

I tell ya, this idea started out serious, then I saw what a beast this had become. For the work involved it's not really worth it, just buy a newer longer SUV. But as a 1st Gen fan I still can't help but think how this could be achieved mechanically. The pop top is a joke, I didn't even use it on my camper enough to justify it. But I look at the rest and think it might look like what it's supposed to with a good paint job, or better photoshopping. Keeping the crew cab wheelbase would solve some turning radius issues, but then the 4runner bed would be hanging waaaay out there. At first I though about adding just the extra cab like we have in the states, but that's a minimal gain for the work, with this one you get the whole crew cab for the same work but length becomes a pretty obvious issue, not to mention suspension, weight, turn radius, welds holding, blah blah blah.
Anyway, if anybody has any technical ideas or comments, shoot. Maybe a bobbed 4Runner bed. Damn the ass on this is going to sag.

Okay, this is with a lift and a bobbed 4runner bed, fits on the unmodified crewcab frame. It occurs to me that with the larger sheet metal on the crew cab you could put in a big sunroof too...

I wonder if they make a flatter version that would work on a truck roof.
I don't know why I waste my time on this, would have to go to friggin Colombia to get the truck! But looking better...
