Just Bought TRD Exhaust...

Alright fellas, I finally gave in and decided to get exhaust. I have a 98 Runner, exhaust should be in my hands by Friday. Got it for 500.

For those who have the TRD exhaust on a third gen, how does it sound? Big improvement? I don't want something excessively loud, just enough to give make my truck rumble a bit. How is the drone?

Any problems you guys have had with it? Tips for installation or anything else?

Thanks.

The sound is nice its mellow side. Performance well if its 500 it's gotta do something. The drone yes ive experienced the dront on forum member's rigs. Any probs? Not really just make sure those bolts that hold the flanges together are pb blastered to kingdom come and you'll be set.

Sorry payyourtoll, I'm going to hold on to my old exhaust just in case I don't like it or if I have to put the old exhaust on to sell the Runner when it finally comes time. Sad thought, I know.

Not really looking for power...just an improved sound.

Also for installation, will all the parts be a direct fit?

The sound is ok. There are no feelible performance gains. The drone isnt too bad. The tone isnt 4 banger but its closer to 4 banger sound then it is too v8 muscle sound.

It does however look really good. Mine got tarnished pretty quick I really need to clean it.

I actually did a review about it. You can find it here :

Which tip does yours come with? I got mine and i believe it was the 99-02 with the slash cut. The tip did not hold up at all and the sound compared to stock is definately improved. The thing is after you get used to it, it's really quiet. I got to a point where i had to turn the radio off and lower my windows just too hear it. I got a magnaflow to replace it and i couldn't be happier. If you did get the slash cut tip, baby that thing or just expect that you will have to replace the tip at some point.

Very nice, cynicX. Good review and nice pics, looks real good.

Anthraciterunner - not sure about the tip. I ordered it off ebay from Toyota of Goldsboro, there wasn't a picture of the actual exhaust, so I'm not really sure, I should know by tomorrow though.
