Talking Just bought an '02 Sport

Well it has finally happened. I picked up my '02 Sport Edition 4Runner last night. I have been wanting one of these since they came out. It has 88,000 miles on it, and runs pretty smooth. You can't even feel the tranny shift between gears really. The interior is in great shape, but missing the ashtray and rear cargo area cover. (Does anyone know of a good place to get the cargo cover from?) It looks like it has a Daystar front leveling kit or something. I'll have to get under there and take a better look.

Anyways, I just wanted to say hi, and let you all know I will be searching many threads for things that should be taken care of before I do any serious off-roading.

Cheers!

Congrats on the new 4Runner. Sounds like you found a good one! You might want to check the classifieds section - referred to as the YotaTech Marketplace for the ashtray and cargo area cover.

As for the 'Daystar front leveling kit' it might have a spacer lift in the front with upgraded springs in the back. The reason I say this is because with 3rd gen 4runners (well all 4runners for the that matter) the rear sags, so 'leveling' the front is usually not a concern.

Good luck with the rig and welcome to YT!

Forget the ashtray. Just get a CB put in there. And do the Andy Mod, ASAP! (look in the tech articles section).

Did a little more digging and found out that it's a 2.5" Daystar Comfort Leveling System. It works for now, but will be going away soon. I'm not quite sure what type of lift I'll be going with yet; because when anyone asks about recommendations, you get overloaded with everyones personal opinions. It's to bad that someone hasn't put together a thread with the different types of lifts and what they work best for (once again it's all opinion based).

I think I'm going to 're-do' the entire lower portion of the stereo console to incorporate a 7" TFT screen for a gps mapping system, and install the cb below the stereo where the pocket is now. Then I'll relocate the power outlets to other more strategic places. I still have to draw up the whole thing first, then I'll fab it out of reinforced fiberglass.

Going to "search" for the 'Andy Mod' shortly.

who needs a cargo cover anyway.... it wasn't till reading this thread that I even realized that 4runners had them. Mine didn't come with one, and I have never found myself wishing it had. Oh well.

As far as threads compiling different lift options, there are plenty out there, just look.

Cargo covers are nice to keep sunlight and prying eyes from the goodies stowed underneath it which also hides my subwoofer.

I'll save you some time - https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f127...ystems-103814/

Oh and welcome to YT...by the way, you suck though . Two yrs ago, before I bought my current '02 Sport, I looked nationwide for 4 months to find a blue '02 Sport w/ low miles and came up empty every time. Granted, the main factor was that it had to have really low miles, but I still wish I had just gave in a bit more and got a blue one w/ a little more miles.

Don't get me wrong, I love the 4Runner I own now, but Stellar Blue Pearl is by far my favorite color for a Sport. Nice find. Def would like to see some pics of yours.

It's supposed to be nice tomorrow. Maybe I can get some pics of it then.

BTW - Did I mention I didn't pay a dime for this rig? I traded my 2004 VW Jetta straight across at a local dealership. Not even 'Dealer Handling'
