Jerry can mount?

I'm wanting to mount a jerry can on the spare tire carrier of my Runner, but I'm not too sure how to make it stay there really well. It would sit right on top of the liscence plate mount and fit great. I attached a pic of my tire carrier so ya can see what it looks like. I'm thinking, maybe something like these holders that 4x4 Connection has: Jerry Can Holder but with a lower lip on one side. Any Ideas?

You know, the set up Corey has would fit sweet in that spot.. It is a smaller can, but it would fit better..

It might work back there Lee.
Mine is 10 liters, or around 2.5 gallons.

I was surfing aroud the site where you picked up your jerry can mount, Corey, and I found this baby:

but they dont have any ,it said they're not available. I think one of those would work perfect, That can is exactly like the one I have. Here's the site if you wanna check it out :

The problem with that can is they leak.
That is the same type my dad kept in the garage since I was a baby for filling up the lawnmower.

Look on my page here to a link for a leak proof one.
http://www.pnw4runners.net/tando/hilift_mount.htm

It's the one I run, and it can be on it's side, or upside down.
It's the original jerry can patterned after the WWII German cans.

Leak proof, and the same one I have.

you could U-bolt a mount to the upper and lower bars on the mount.

Hey Corey,
I have the same style of gas can except mine is a 5 gallon one. I bought it in CA and it came with the spout that attaches the same as the lid. I was in CA last month and was sorely disappointed that they no longer sell them at Kragen (Schucks here). I also have a similar one that is a NATO issue 20 liter one that is ceramic lined for water. I ordered the water can from www.sportsmansguide.com a couple years ago now. I really want to find another gas can like this though. I don't want to have to get the Blitz one.

BTW, Corey.. do you know that is the original German design you have?? The three handles were for 1 or 2 man carring and the teltale welded seam in the center..

Take a look at my Greman issue WWII cans
and see how close they are

Rome, did you look at all the ones Joe has?
http://www.generatorjoe.net/product....214&1=215&3=62

I'd like to get a small water can, but he doesn't have the 10 liter in water, only 20.
I did find an Aussie company I might get the smaller water one from.
It's the same brand, only Joe can't get it imported here.
Water cans have to be blue, and the Aussie one is green, and it's lined for water.

Lee, here is a good write-up on the Wedco can I have.
http://www.backcountrytrailers.com/T.../neatstuff.htm

That is what convinced me to guy mine.
Yeah, ours look very close.

Corey, cool I'll look into it. BTW I have a wedco can, but mine is the 5gal one. My NATO water can is green. I hate the idea of having to paint it blue.

Corey.. can you get me some close-ups and measurements for the neck of yours?? I am curious if a spout from one of those would work on mine...

Have you guys checked out this website?

http://cheaperthandirt.com

they've got a lot of mil surplus (Swiss army pffft!)
anyhow, if you guys want a more direct link for mil surplus/ammo cans and field boxes:

http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ctd/d...W62GMFFE5V3TR7

They have some pretty impressive stuff here... AND trash, you need to have a little bit of a discerning eye to filter out the trash from the useful stuff.
