jeep seats?

Does any one know how hard it is to fit jeep seats in an 87 runner?

Jeep seats are terrible!

Find some seats out of a newer toyota truck or 4runner. They are cheap but more comfortable than the ones in the 87. More expensive options would include Celica seats or Volvo seats which are awesome. Figure on having to fabricate the rails to fit your existing mounting points.

Unless you're talking about jump seats to put in the very back, don't get Jeep seats. As calamaridog said they suck. Even the seats from new Grand Cherokee's are very uncomfortable on anything over a 5 min trip.

However, Jeep replacement seats are a dime a dozen (and can often be found in jeep clubs for free).

Having said that, I have no idea how difficult a fit it may be.

I just installed mid 90's honda Civic seats in my 85 4Runner and what an improvement. I didn't have the multi adjustable seats so maybe they are just as good but I bought these for $100/pair. The front two bolt holes on each seat line up almost perfectly, just pushed on one track a bit to get the bolts in. For the back holes I am cutting off the lower portion of the stock bracket and bolting/welding them in place of the Honda lower bracket portion. Might take an hour tops to do but they fit great.

Just to expand on the Jeep seats concept. Some of the aftermarket replacement seats are comfortable but I don't believe they will fit as well as some other options such as the Volvo or Celica seats.

My wife has a Liberty Limited and the leather seats are fairly comfortable while the cloth seats in the Sport model are absolutely terrible.

I found sr5 seats in a junkyard from an 87 truck to fit my 86 runner for $50 and only had to drill one hole. They are very comfortable.

Just an FYI: Costco and Sam's club sell neoprene seat covers for about $25/pair. I have had a set for about 2 years now and are well worth the price.

I want to change the back seats in my 98 4Runner to ones that recline, like the Pathfinder. How hard do you you think that would be, or are there any other suggestions?
