Jealousy Perhaps?

Was driving my friend to the Autodismanter section of Sacramento Today, to find a clutch bearing for his Nissan 240 SX, decided to stop by the Toyota Dismantler. They said they had a few 3rd Gen's in stock, so I decided to check them out. One 99 or 00 with left front end damage, and one 00 or 01 with right front end damage. Considering I was hoping to find some 99-02 multi reflector headlghts, what were the chances?

Had them removed, and upon inspection found that on the left headlamp, one of the plastic brackets that the screws insert into had broken off. My friend immeadiatly told me i could mend it with some plastic putty, so we took them to the counter.

I also grabbed the rear cup holder assembly since the one in my 97 is missing, but unfortunately it did not fit! =[

So the guys at the counter have no idea what these things are worth. I walk out the door with a 4WD emblem (97's did not have them, 4wd or not) and 2 99-02 style multi reflector headlights for 150.

I am attempting to patch the headlight female screw input as we speak. Wish me luck.

Well...Lights are installed, the putty held fine. They look absolutely awesome!!! I also picked up a pair of the PIAA super white bulbs and installed them as well. I couldn't be happier right now. The 4WD emblem will also spiff up wherever I decide to put it. I may wait until the Hilux Surf/ SSRG emblems ship to add the 4wd emblem.

Highly reccomend this mod to anyone with the older style frosted lights! It has really cleaned up my front end!!!

Try to get the taillights off the 01. They are brighter and a nice upgrade. I'd like to get some.

Good deal... I'm thinking about heading up to my local salvage yard and poking around for a while... see what's available. There are a handful of little things I'd like, but nothing worth paying dealer price for. If I'm lucky I might find a 4runner/Taco rear with a locker... mmmm, that would be the pot of gold at the end of the salvage yard, lol.

Ya the wrecked ones I looked at didnt have the clearer version tailights, They were exactly the same as mine. Wierd how the headlamps were the multireflectors but the tailamps were the same as my 97? O well...maybe on my next trip to the salvage yard!
