This is my '86 4WD pickup. Everyone that sees the truck says I have a problem, but I think it's jealousy. I was wanting to see pictures of everone else's engines all prettied up. Pretty pointless thread.. But I've always been really careful about keeping my engine compartment clean, wanted to see if you guys were the same way... Thanks!

 

I like to keep mine clean for the simple reason that it makes working on it infinitely nicer. You'll always get dirty working on a car, but there's a difference between dirty hands and three inches of black death caked on your hands afterward.

wow that is an extremely clean engine bay! When i bought mine in Nov. 05 It was fairly clean, but now it has a little orange on the front of it. Dont have any pics right now, maybe later.

 

Super Tech engine degreaser from wal-mart, cheaper than engine-brite, and works al ot better too, foams up better, it's like $1.14 a can around here (Iowa)

 

I was a little drunk when I painted my block, so I try to keep it coated in mud most of the time to hide it's purple-ness... But here's a picture of it semi-clean. Just used the engine cleaner spray at the car wash.

 

mine used to be clean is a little muddy now ill have to wash it this week

 

man, its hard enough keeping the outside clean let alone worry about the engine! i kept my mr2 nice and tidy all around, the limo shop i worked for had all the cleaning goodies!

my runner needs a good engine cleaning, i guess ill have to add that to the 'honey do' list. wait, my honey doesnt care if the engine is clean or not! that was easy!

at least if you guys ever decide to sell your rigs, GASP, you would probably get a higher price than the unwashed masses. they look good, nice work.

Yeah, im with you. I've never been a big fan of taking a hose to my engine, but i'm gunna have to this year because I got a ton of salt spray on the drivers side so i figure i might as well do the whole thing

 

all i do is cover up the alternator the fuse box really good and remove the airfilter stuff a few rags down inside of the intake box then lightly hose down the engine make sure its not hot a little warm is alright then use ether simple green or castrol super clean spray everything real good then scrub a few things if its real bad let it sit for 5-10 mins and then hose it down real good i like to use a leaf blower to speed up the drying process then start then engine and let it warm up

 

Spotless as usual. No kiddin', the mud actually takes some of the engine grime with it when it comes off. Soaks up the oil pretty good, and has abrasive cleansing properties. I use a garden hose, no problems with electronics yet. I used to get water in my EGR, when it wasn't disabled. That was no big deal, it just wanted to run a little rough till it sucked it clear.
