Yes I did. Found I didn't like all that air in my face anyway. I blocked off the duct and now the side vents are like hairdryers(lol). You can do it. Wasn't that hard. Just buy or borrow a dremel. Makes it way easier. Just start hacking till it fits. I'm really pleased with the fit and finish. Took about 4 hours and I went super slow and careful.

i thought of doing the din mount but i like the position of this better. closer to eye level where you want it. Also after reading the write up for the din mount, I think this was easier.

The hardest part of this mod was figuring out how much plastic was needed to cut to make it fit! Fortunately for everyone else, all the measuring and guesswork has been eliminated w/ the write up
The fiberglassing was the easy part. There's only 3 places that needed fiberglassing. The filling of the cavities /w the epoxy and finding *something* to screw those tiny screws into took some thought. Luckily I had some material that was just perfect.
Would I do it again? Absolutely. It would take about 1/2 the time now. But I'd only do it if I got a great deal on an inclinometer. I wouldn't pay more than $60 either

I like the high mount idea. How are you going to trim around it to finish off the installation? Are you going to route the ducting down below?

I trimmed the face plate really close to the exact size of the opening. It's hard to tell in that crappy photo but it doesn't look to bad as is. Only problem is when I put on the lights at night the light would bleed through the edges.
So I used a very small syringe and filled it with black silicone. Then I went all around the edges with a super tiny bead. Just enough to fill the gap. It worked out really well. Sorry, I have to borrow a camera to get a pic but as soon as I do I will post one of it installed.
By the way, I agree the DIN mount looks good I just thought that the High location was more practical. Oh Ya I just blocked off the vents. Never used them anyway. You can dry your hair with the side ones now(lol).

Sounds good. I never use those vents either. I had a beeyatch of a time getting it to look right. I actually melted and reshaped the dash around the opening... I couldn't give up, I had cut so much away it would never have looked right again if I abandoned the project. Now it looks so "factory" that most people don't even notice it. Kinda funny that...

I started this also (https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/another-dash-clinometer-install-different-though-37497/), but decided to go another route. I'm trimming the altimeter off of the Clinometer and integrating an iPaq 4100 to use for Nav and various other functions.
