I've decided to sell my 4Runner
Well after test driving a 2008 Black Urban 4Runner there other day at Toyota, I fell in love. I started off just driving it for the hell of it, but afterwards I wanted it really bad. So then my dad suprisengly said, "If we could get $20,000 or more out of yours, then we could get one of these." So I put it on Auto Trader last night, starting price is 21k, lowest we can take is 19k. Am I making a bad decision? I love my 02 and all, but the 08's, especially the Urban Runner's, are so nice...

No they are very nice...its an okay decision. The problem that I see is getting 19k-21k out of yours...
I mean you have a damn nice 4runner but it'll take a special buyer to appreciate all that you have done...at least enough to pay that price.
Best of luck.

Bad choice? No.
Good Choice? Only you can know.
I don't like the 4th gens just because they are ALL electronic. They look ok though (i like the 3rd gens better). And they are pretty nice stock.
Overall it is your choice, since you have a street Queen and not an off-road truck i say that it will work fine for you. The 4th gens are nicer and have lots more power then the 3rd gens. and for on street driving they are better. So go for it!
But i will say that you might have a hard time getting $20k for yours though. Even as nice as it is, it just seems pretty high. But you never know, someone like that kid a few months back might come along.

Yeah, I understand that it's going to be pretty hard getting what I want out of it. I paid around $19,000 for it in 2006 and my estimated guess in customization accessories is around 5 to 6 grand. Plus it's never been wrecked, I've kept it near perfect condition while I've owned it... But we'll just have to see...

Yeah. If you don't take it offroad much, I would think the 4th gen would be a good choice. However, I would be very surprised if you got more than 12-14k for your runner. Nothing personal, but modified cars never fetch high prices. I have an 04 IS300 with a fully adjustable JIC coilover suspension, mint volk TE37LEs on it, full exhaust, engine tune, etc. If I sold the car as is, I wouldn't make as much above the base price as I paid for the mods, even if they are as cleanly done as they are on mine. I'd be lucky to sell it for excellent condition base model kbb. Maybe a little extra to the right person. So at the end of the day, you are looking at an optimistic 15k. Plus you have to factor in gas, and realize you are selling a truck... good luck though, I only tell you all this so you won't be too upset if it doesn't fly off the shelf.

good luck with that. i think 13-14 is alot more reasonable. hell i paid 19 for mine in 03. it's a limited and 4x4. i've been thinking about selling it lately and i think i'd be lucky to get 12 for it.

If you're serious about selling it, you should start putting it back to stock ASAP. Truth be told, you're not going to see anywhere near 20 grand. Nothing personal. Selling an SUV in a subtropical climate with speculation that gas prices could reach $5/gallon is a lot working against you. You could throw the wheels/audio on craigslist and use that to chip away at your target.

i know it sucks, but you need to remember you normally dont get out of them what you putt into em'. my brother had a truck that he spent just as much, if not more on the accessories, and he ended up getting less than what he paid for it. If it were me, i would get all the accessories that you can use on your new one off of yours, thats me though. but good luck, and hope to see a new runner soon!

If no one seems interested in the current price then Ill gradually lower it every week or two. I can't put it back to stock because I've sold most of the stock parts to other people here on YT or t4r.org

Why would you customize your ride the way you want it, and then want something else.
I would say, look at your finances. If you bought it for $19k 2 years ago I would imagine you would have paid about $7.5K off. That means you still owe $12.5k.
Adding up what you have put into it (estimate $5.5k, sorry for the k's lol) that means you would gain 3,000 dollars if you sold it... That's IF. That also means if you want to break even you can sell it for $17-18k max.

good luck
all the customization only means much to you.
it doesn't do a thing for the price you want to get for it.
you'd get more from a bone-stock 4runner...in general
someone may want it though. 20 grand ???

Best of luck with selling your rig. I'm interested to see what kind of interest you get. All the news these days is saying SUV prices have TANKED. Their trade in values are rock bottom, so the market is going to make it tough to sell it at that price.
