Heater issues, 22re

The heater barely works in my 85 4runner. Just barely defrosts the windshield after 15 minutes of highway driving. It was 0 degrees F this morning, I am still thawing from my drive to work. I put in a new thermostat (with 1/8" hole), checked that the heater hoses were in the right places, (they weren't), still didn't fix it. Seems like there is restricted flow into the core, but I pulled the hoses and pushed water through it both ways pretty easily. Any ideas anyone?
22RE. Headgasket is new. Engine runs at normal temps. I don't have a diagram of the 2 coolant hoses that attatch to the pipe from the back of the water pump, under the the TB. If anyone has a pic of that so I can can make sure they are all in the right spots I'd love to see it. All of the vacuum lines were messed up from a previous owner, so I wouldn't be suprised to see anything.

Can't help you with the heater but, if you have AC turn it on and crank the temp on the defroster. The AC will take the moisture out of the air and defrost you windows. If you dot have AC, hold your breath.

Possibly the blend door in the heatrer case (that directs air through or around the heater core) is sticking or out of adjustement. Also check that the heater control valve (under the hood right by the heter core inlet) is working properly
