A while back on the Sleeoffroad site they had a spare tire mount that the tire sat on top horizontally just above the seats. It was in a TLC but since they fab'ed it anyway how hard could it be to do it for a 4runner. Unfortunately I dont have a pic and hoped someone else might?

Threaded Studs

[QUOTE=4x4Fink;50397858]So does anybody have any good ideas on how to securely mount a Maglite on the rollbar? I don't think the Quick Fists will work too well, don't really want to test it and leave the holes there.[QUOTE]

Just cut the threads of a bolt or purchase some threaded studs from McMaster.com and weld threaded stud to the rollbar. If you don't like how it worked, just cut off the studs and repaint.

From Rock Slide's rollbar thread using Maglite clips just bolted to the rollbar (that is what it looks like)

I'm ready to do this to my second gen, does anyone have a definite answer for how much to shorten the roll-bar? 2" seems to be about right according to my tape measure but I would like to hear from someoen who has done it.

Thanks!

No idea on the second gen but good luck. (just remember it's harder to add on than to take off)

2" is right for the 3rd gens but I don't know about the 2nd gens.

If you go out and measure your wheel wells then I can compare those to mine and see how close they are. I guess that'd probably work...

Definitely a mod I would do if I had a 3rd gen.

You can get some bling bling mounts for the roll bar (2" OD IIRC) here: Fourtreks
http://fourtreks.com/roll_bar.html

I need to see some mounting installs, for instance where you drilled your holes and where they came through, how many holes were drilled? Did anybody silicone them (would imagine so)?
