interior dash paint question

Question:

So I am possibly looking into doing some custom switch bezels using some fiberglass and the factory black trim - has anyone tried to paint the trim before and get a good match to the original black paint (IE, so you cant notice)? If so - what paint did you use

i doubt you could get it to look close.

Best thing to do would be to get some spray paint made for plastics and paint some onto some plastic from a junkyard 4runner, and then see whats closest.

Check out sem paint. I have used it on vinyls and plastic dash stuff and it is very tough and looks factory. Highly recommended!!

Here is a picture of my dash in my old truck i painted with this sem paint. I just did the black around the instrument cluster..

good to know - thanks. Where did you pick that paint up at? If I only painted one panel of the center console, do you think it would be obvious when placed next to just the factory finish panels?

Our Napa store has that in just about every color.

I've used Krylon Fusion with Bulldog Adhesion Promoter with great success. If you're worried about one piece not matching the rest, you could paint ALL the pieces or just the adjacent pieces for continuity.
