Interior Bike Rack
#22
You know, I actually thought about getting one of those but I didn't like the idea of having limited options as to where to install. I'm not going to have any space in my bed for one of those longer ones once I get my toolbox back there.
... but it looks good on your rig!

Thanks.
I think if I would have saw those separate mounts, I may have gone the "bolt them to a 1x6" route also.
I liked this especially since you can slide or rotate the clamps to any position. It came with mounting bolts that you could either mount to the bottom, side (or ceiling, I guess
) of wherever. I chose not to mount it since it's so stable as is.
Take it easy.

The rack is a great idea... cheap too. Careful. Another idea like that one and you'll be getting PM'd to death!!
I think I'd install one of the cargo area covers, just to catch all of the slop from the bikes.
We picked up a reese mount bike rack. The world is a different place when you have kids.
Besides..... it was ONLY $215.00 MORE than your idea.

I have a similar setup that I've used for about a year, and it works great! I didn't want to do anything permanent to attach them to my truck though ('85 Runner) so I bolted them into a 2x4. The board is cut so it snugly fits the width of my interior, and it sits between my tailgate and the wheel wells in the back. No stability issues at all, but if I know I'm going over bumpy roads I'll bungee the other end of my bike to the roll bar for good measure. Pretty slick, and less than $25!
