Question Instrument cluster upgrade question???

I have an 89 runner with the plain instrument cluster. I hate it because all I have is fuel, temp and speed. I am curious if I could get one of the more detailed cluster that has rpm, oil, and charge as well as speed, fuel and temp and just swap them? Or would I need to do some new wiring to accomodate for this?

From: 100 miles offshore as much as possible, & Springfield Oregon USA
Search SR5 gauges, SR5 gauge swap etc - hundreds of threads covering it thoroughly.
(It's an easy swap btw )

You should be able to get a instrument panel from the junk yard and swap them out. I would try to find one that is the same year as your truck. Taking your dash apart is going to be a bit of a hassle. You'll have to match the light bulb configuration on the new panel to the bulbs on the existing panel. For instance you'll need a bulb in the overdrive socket if your going from a manual trans to a auto. Or 4WD from 2WD etc... It should work. I have my dash back together without any rattles so I'm reluctant to take it aprart again. Be carefull with the mileage issue. Some states might not dig your truck going from 200K down to 100K.
