Question Installed my supercharger now the engine won't start.

I just got my rebuild supercharger back. I installed it on my 1997 4Runner in the reverse order of how I took it off. Now when I turn the key the engine races for a second and then spits and spudders and shuts down.
I checked my vac lines and connection, everything looks ok but I must have done something wrong. Any ideas?

Ouch.

Anyway, it sounds like a vacum leak somewhere causing the engine not to run. You may need to disassemble and check all the gaskets to ensure you don't have a leak. It could also be something like a TPS or another sensor. You might also hook up a decent OBD system to see what the engine operating permeters are at startup.

Here is a good thread:

Another clue to my problem is that all my spark plugs are fouled out. I put new plugs in after checking electrical and vac lines, I tried to start it and the plugs fouled out again.

Sound like something got pinched when you put the S/C on.

hey guys, i just installed a 2nd gen supercharger and am in the process of installing URD's fuel kit. I have everything installed (fuel pump, 318 injectors, and supercharger) except the FTC. Before i put the FTC in i tried to crank it up and am having the same problem the guy had in this original post. Is my starting problem from just not having the FTC hooked up, or are my problems larger than that? Thanks guys

I'd suggest starting your own thread since its different than this one. Not to mention this one is dated.

Did your truck run (well?) after installing the SC? Or did you do the fuel injectors while you had the intake off for the SC install?

EDIT, point being, please list out the order and effects of your install.

not related to your post, but from up higher in the thread. If you do not re-connect your temp sensor, your engine won't start (runs full lean, not rich). However, your truck will start with SC and injectors installed, but no FTC. NO clue on long term affects or drivability. I started mine and let it run for 10 secs simply to verify I didn't screw up the first half of the install.

(also I did the fuel pump, t-stat and plugs a few weeks prior)
